I just saw the RHPS for the first time the other day. Man what a trip!

It sure is crazy, and apart from a few catchy tunes, Im not really sure why it was made.

Any thoughts opinions, questions or concerns about it?

I was a weekly RHPS goer for about a decade with a few different groups. Had a great time, tons of fun. Mostly did callbacks yelling in the aisles or on-stage as Riff Raff. Eventually I had a job that needed me in on Sundays so I stopped. I don't really miss it, but I don't regret doing it at all.

The first time I saw the RHPS movie, I was 11ish and didn't really appreciate it except for a couple of songs ("Time Warp" and "Sweet Transvestite"- still my favorites). It's definitely grown on me over the years, though. My school put it on around Halloween with a female Frank-N-Furter. She did really well, but I definitely prefer men in the role. I've never been able to go to a midnight screening, but it's definitely on my to-do list!

My best friend and I have been to many live showings (11 for me at last count) in the past four years. This means we started going when I was 16 and she was 15. We dressed as Columbia and Magenta for the first trip despite even being under legal age lol

It kinda seems a celebration of the (than nascent) sexual revolution of the 60s-70s, plus an homage to the horror/sci fi movies of the 40s-50s.

I get the feeling that it was very much a product of its time, and couldn't be made now, due to its flippant portrayal of a transsexual transvestite. I don't think it could have been made in the 80s either, since Frank's promiscuity wouldn't sit will with the anxieties over the AIDS epidemic

downloading the movie is simple; someone find me a torrent/download/hidden link of the 1999 VH1 Behind the Music documentary about the Rocky Horror phenomenon. Shit's more annoying to find than the Scott Pilgrim game thanks to tangled up copyrights.

My college had a showing every Halloween and it was always a huge deal around campus with a week's worth of buildup.
I had lots of fun until the last year. My suitemate tagged along and is a literal autist. Kept trying to make witty comments at the film that weren't funny. The cringe was so bad that I left early.

The movie's great fun though. Tim Curry had delicious legs back in the day.

Anyone watch the follow-up movie Shock Treatment written by Richard O’Brien? It features some of the same cast/characters, but Brad and Janet are played by different actors. It’s bad, but probably the “so bad it’s good” type of movie to watch when you’re drunk and/or stoned.

I love this movie. Funnily enough I can still sing most of the songs even though it's been years since I've seen it.

Got to play Brad and Frank-n-Furter a couple times in an amateur production of it because why the fuck not?

It certainly came at the right place and time to leave a legacy as it did.

It's creepy how Shock Treatment makes more sense now than it did when it was made.

necro thinking back to in the day because watching the Simpsons with POKEYMAN!?! WITH THE MAN AND THE POKEY AND THE WHAA WAHHA WHAHAA
one week it was a very light crowd, the dozen and change regulars in the crowd, the usuals doing the stage shit, and me and another asshole in the crowd yelling shit
and a couple who didn't get it and kept yelling at us to shut up
I don't remember exactly why but by AN-TICA. . . we decided to yell everything in a stupid Bill Cosby impersonation around then, so it became WITH THE PATIAN ANDTHE MAN AND POKEY AND THE KODAK FILM AND THE JELLOW PUDDING MUWAAA MUAAAA MUAAAA which obviously made those two less happy and they yelled so we proceeded to do it for remaining hour of the movie, nonstop, for the entire fucking movie.
