I casually play this game but damn if it ain't enjoyable. Anybody have any tips on how to not suck ass? In 3v3 matches I'm super defensive just by virtue that I'm trying to learn as I play, and in 1v1s I'm generally pretty outclassed.
Does anybody have any tips in general? Looking mostly for tips on how to play offensive in this game. I'm really defensive when I play, mostly out of the fact I'm a scrub.

Just keep playing (unranked) matches, consider every session practice. There are just things you gotta find out for yourself man. I'm not saying I've become some crazy always-hit-aerial shot guy but I know now, for example, to not just wait under the ball as it bounces to line up shots and to actually get back to our goal post to potentially stop a competitor shot when the ball is obviously going that way.

Do all of the training courses. They're extremely helpful and teach you the fundamentals.
The key to success seems to be knowing when and how to use your boosts. Save them for when you need them. If you need to quickly make it across the field double-tap jump and hold forward. You'll do a front flip and go flying, saving your boost and getting you where you need to be. Also make sure to pay attention to your teammates. I can't tell you how many times I've had a perfect shot fucked up because a teammate charged blindly after the ball and sent it away from the goal.
Official first season is going to begin in the next couple of weeks once the 1.05 patch is rolled out. I only play casually but would anybody be interested in setting up a 3v3 or 4v4 team? Online is fun partly because nobody knows what anybody else is doing but it'd be cool to try out playing with better strategy, as well as just being able to chill with a few Kiwi's whilst playing.
A month later and I'm pretty decent at the game. My friend and I play on the PS4 and we're an unstoppable duo on 2v2 because we work really well together. He's super offensive, I'm super defensive and it balances it out well.
The number of victories by forfeit we've had because the score was completely skewed is in the dozens now.
I don't have a PS4 yet (because I'm too poor lol) but I played a demo of this game at a GameStop once and now I'm completely obsessed with watching Let's Plays and Top 10s about this fucking game.
The basketball mode they added is really neat. From the different crowds, new hoops and strategies, and even to the squeak of the tires on the floor like they're basketball shoes, it's really awesome.
