I watch them occasionally. They are pretty good. I haven't watched any of the submissions for the challenge they are doing, though.
Was the cringe one one of them? I'd love to watch it now lol
All I remember is it has something to do with the climb Megatron and a climber named Hamish. I got to see some screenshots and commentary that I wasn’t exactly supposed to see. It’s unlisted right now, I don’t know if there’s a way to see it without a direct link.

Hope I can still climb half that good when I'm that age.
You and me both man. That’s pretty awesome though he’s up to it at his age. Won’t lie, I’m lowkey afraid I’ll be a ball of arthritis inside the next decade.

You getting up to any summer climbing @Rock bro6 66 ? I know @LillyTheBestGirl has those PNW temps for AID. The southeast this summer has been getting a crazy amount of rain, so not as much outdoor as I’ve been hoping for. Mostly repeating stuff I’ve sent before and helping my wife get her projects. Convinced a bunch of people from work to try out climbing too, so that’s been fun.

Sucks to hear about the arthritis. Hope you can stave it off. Besides my ankle break, and a carpel tunnel surgery I'm still going strong for my age. (40s)

I'm not too far from you, so I've been getting hit with roughly the same amount of rain. When I went bouldering last month the area was really muddy, and I'm guessing it's still like that due to all the rain. It's also been really hot here too, so that deters me. Mostly been in the gym 4 days a week. Climbing with friends, training, or working on my lead and boulder projects.

Mid Fall through straight to mid Spring is peak climbing, butttttttt…..
Fuck that lol. I tried bouldering in the snow and freezing temperatures before. The rubber saps all the warmth out of your feet and friction melts the frost on the rock and it immediately freezes into a thin layer of ice on the rock and your shoes. Never again.

Thankfully snow in the southeast isn’t too common. Ice is more likely, but if you pick the right crag it isn’t too bad. I also roll with dual buddy heaters, it might be aid but I’m not that retarded. Some of my best sends were in December/January. Rock is so crisp and sticky. Though somehow the one time I hit up HP40 in January it’s fucking 70.

Any of you hear about the shooting that happened at a climbing gym in Tennessee recently? Shit was pretty senseless.

Woah there's a climbing thread? I only begun bouldering at the start of this year. I don't have much free time so I haven't ventured too far into it so I am still a complete newbie. I'm in the Southern Hemisphere so you could say I have a lot of options for climbing outdoors seeing as I am not located far from a national park. But currently it's the wet season so it's just far too wet to safely do anything so currently I've been going to an indoor climbing gym and just training my endurance and strength up. But till spring time I'm sitting idle till I can get out there and start doing outdoor options but I'm having a lot of fun.

If I may ask, about how frequently a week would you say you climb?

Southeast, Southwest, or South South?

Keep training, and most importantly, having fun. Have you managed to climb outside yet? More ropes or bouldering for you?

not often enough. 4 times a month usually.
Southeast, Southwest, or South South?
Almost straya you could say.

thanks! unfortunately I've not done any outdoor climbing yet. The closest I've gotten to doing is messing around while on hikes at most up the side of the odd large rock. I purely do bouldering but ain't big on ropes. I enjoy the cognitive challenge aspects of it.

I just googled it, and checked out 2 separate stories. Does seem like your typical "Niggers gonna Nig" senseless violence. Really sad to see.
Thanks for making me cackle like a retard at the gym, because of course I saw this there.

Temps have been so fantastic since August started, been outside climbing every other day. It’s only rained lightly a few times so things drying out within 12-24 hours has been awesome. Can’t wait for the good temps to roll in so I can crush some V7’s :really:

If any of you are ever in Atlanta be sure to check out Boatrock. You’ll need to get the gate code from the SCC, but it’s free. Hope you enjoy granite slab that’ll eat your skin. If I recall correctly Brooke Raboutou’s mom and dad FA’d a lot of that crag. It’s also sandbagged as fuck.

Hell yeah! I've gotten a few other to do more regular outdoors sport climbing with me and it's been great so far.
SOON is the annual Red River Gorge. So stoked, I am absolutely not ready. I’ve been bouldering non stop, zero endurance training. Plan on getting a 5.10a clean out at Gumby Valley though. I also have a 5.11a out there I really want.

You guys getting on anything good Labour?

Nice! Most of our group are newer, so the hardest we've been doing is around 5.9 outside. I've also been practicing my lead climbing techniques and I'm taking the lead class at my gym soon with a buddy. Lead climbing interests me a lot, and being able to lead just seems to open up more for outdoors sport climbing.

But for indoors, I can now usually complete a 5.11a on top rope. The hardest part of those climbs for me are when there are several crimps in a row. Good technique helps, but they still exhaust my forearms, so I've added a little hangboard somewhat regularly and that seems to be helping. Bouldering at least evey other day also helps, and I'm seeing progress with V4s now usually within reach, which used to seem impossible. It feels great to make progress on more challenging problems.

Fuck, this sport is so fun!

Just make sure to get plenty of practice outside before doing anything too ambitious. A huge thing will be how to build and clean anchors. A gal died down here not too long ago cleaning an anchor. Wait until you get to take a fat 20-30 foot whipper. Your booty will clench so hard. And ALWAYS wear a helmet. If you can help it go outside with someone super experienced and comfortable leading to learn how to build anchors and clean them. God, I can’t wait to hear you tell us about making a sketchy/janky anchor.

I've added a little hangboard somewhat regularly and that seems to be helping.
Do this 3 times a week, every two weeks add in another worse crimp. I can hang from the 10mm for 10 seconds now myself from doing this. Campus board training if your gym has one will make your lock offs so insanely strong too. If you have time do that after hangboard. 1-3-5’s climb up then down climb 4 times.

Fuck, this sport is so fun!
Yes.
