Today was the funeral of one of my Dads oldest friends. They shared an apartment after High School for a bit and one summer they and three other friends took a van to Glacier National Park before splitting off. My Dad hitchhiked around before running out of money and needed his parents to send him some money to come home. His friend and two others kept hitchhiking for the rest of the summer working odd jobs whenever they ran out of cash. Today his son, whom he taught to play guitar, performed a song in tribute to his late father and his daughter sang one of his favorite songs in addition to several people sharing stories of how he touched them. His funeral was attended by his brothers, widow, children, grandchildren, and countless friends he made throughout the years. The fact that so many people attended to pay tribute to the man from across the ages shows how much of an impact he had on so many people.

Late, but former drummer of the Australian post-punk band The Scientists, Leanne Cowie, died on March 20th at the age of 60.
And the current drummer, of said band, James Baker died at the age of 71.

I've been watching lots of 80s and 90s action movies lately and he was in a lot of them, especially the ones about loose cannon L.A. cops. He was always fun to watch and played both heroes and villains.

Little late, but former PGA Tour golfer J. C. Snead passed away on April 25, 2025, aged 84 years.
Snead didn't start his professional golf career until the age of 27 as played professional baseball in the Washington Senators farm system until 1964.
He was also the nephew of golfing legend Sam Snead.

To clarify the hostile tone in my previous post a bit:
Public broadcasting and the powers that be in Germany LOVE carrying around this woman and utilizing her against every bit of right-wing stuff.
But even apparently this "That is just how it started back then" was taken out of context, and the media are completely and utterly silent on her criticism of Germany's "refugees welcome" migration policy.
It is not physically possible to hate journalists enough

So I take back most of my vitriol towards her and direct it to journalists.

I would sat the media, in general, is to blamed for most of the world's woes. News thrives in negativity and controversy, the more the better.
Actual, real journalists with a modicum of passion usually do good things, like deep dives into current events or uncovering local government conspiracies.

Georgios Smaragdis, aka synthwave musician Starcadian, was killed on May 1st while riding his E-bike to the recording studio in New York. He was doored by a parked van then the rear wheel of a box truck ran over his head after he was flung into traffic. Despite all that, he managed to live for about 30 minutes until pronounced dead at the hospital. 44 years old.
