He was such a great actor. Sad to see him go, but at least he lived a long and fruitful life. Jurassic Park wouldn't be such a beloved film if it weren’t for his (and the rest of the cast's) performance. Now he and Richard Attenborough can reunite in heaven.
Big RIP, I loved the guy, I knew him from Jurassic Park cause I was the dinosaur kid at school. But I grew to love him in Mouth of Madness and Daybreakers and so much other stuff. He reminded me so much of Sean Connery. I will miss him.

Treaty of Waitangi. Unlike many other colonized countries such as Australia or the USA, Māori retain rights to their ancestral lands etc and were not a ‘defeated people’. Just like Canada with the Québécois, Māori culture and language has equal legal status in NZ.
Māori war chief Hongi Hika even went to Britain and came back with the bible and crates of muskets, then used them to annihilate rival tribes, much to Britain’s delight. The Māori wars and their resolution are a fascinating topic if you’re interested in nineteenth-century colonial military history (as I am because I’m a sperg).
A lot of ‘white’ New Zealanders have a case of ‘one sixty-fourth Cherokee’ and/or are happy to give visible consideration to their status as co-inhabitors of NZ. Sam Neill, being part of the mainstream entertainment industry in NZ, and his estate, are just complying with legal and moral obligations by acknowledging indigenous New Zealanders.
I remember watching ATWT with my mom for a couple of summers, and the Steve/Betsy/Craig storyline was all the rage.
Not quite the Luke and Laura crazy, but still entertaining. He did play a good creep, though.
