I'd imagine that any kind of Saul Goodman "But your honour, it's in the dog's possession" attempt at trickery would swiftly be met with: "The dog is owned by you and you can't just strap your gun to it and use it as a third party to carry a weapon in public." It'd be like trying to smuggle drugs across the border by putting it in your baby's socks and going "Well officer, it's not me trying to smuggle the cocaine..."
