So, anyone caught the latest episode?

It was a bit sour at times and the B plot was weak, but the main plot was fun enough to work, I think.

I personally thought it was amazing. A definite step up from last week.

And the B plot was pretty weak, but it was worth it for me just for all the Taddy Mason stuff.

"It's not Taddy Mason?"
"Dad, who the fuck is Taddy Mason?"

"Morty, are you alright? Why are you with Taddy Mason?"
"Holy shit Dad, shut the fuck up!!!"

And then it turns out that Taddy Mason is a guy who you can call and talk to for $1.99 per minute so you can pretend you have a friend. Jerry racked up $700's worth of calls in one month. Get a job, Jerry.
 
I thought the episode was good, but not amazing. It was a severe step up from the last two episodes, mostly for the fact that it actually had an ongoing story in it, that was just fun to watch with and went haywire with two elements that make Rick and Morty awesome: Violence, a ridiculous set up and over the top wackiness. When I heard thi was going to be a Purge inspired episode, I was not all that hooked up. The Purge is a shit movie and I thought not that many jokes could be made out of the set up. But the fact on how casual Rick was about it and how over the top the killings eventually went to the point even Rick was uncomfortable sold it.
As for the "B" plot, if you even want to call it a plot... just an excuse to show how insecure and a loser Jerry is. To which I can just say, for once they were totally right. Jerry, get a job.
 
Aside from the consensus that this was an improvement over the last two episodes, I also liked how this episode expanded further on Morty's dark side, especially with...

about the "ragenol" in the candy bar amplifying one's anger, but then the last second reveal that the candy bars were "rageonol-free",

I've started watching the show recently, (almost caught up) and I have to say, this show has really surprised me.

The jokes are spot on most of the time, and I really enjoy the characters of the show. I really like how Rick and Morty both have little quirks in the way they talk. Whether it be Rick's burps and drunken slurs or Morty's stuttering. Also, from what I've heard, the way the dialogue is done isn't via an exact script. Instead the actors just follow general descriptions of what's happening and improvise or something like that. Kinda makes the show even more humorous and engaging.

The show also introduced to me what is probably now one of my favorite songs:

I caught episodes five and six of season two on TV last week and watched every episode so far on Saturday. I don't think I've seen an episode I haven't liked yet. Though Lawnmower Dogs was a little weak if I'm honest.

I can't believe the season's almost over already! It's so unfair. I really hope that season 3 will be longer.

It also feels weird how quickly the season aired. Aside from that two week break a few episodes back, all the new Rick and Morty episodes have been aired every Sunday for past couple months. I remember having to wait weeks at a time last season for the new episodes. I think the worst case was when there was like six weeks in between episodes (thanks to the Winter Olympics). That really sucked. All of these new Rick and Morty fans have no idea what it was like! They're so spoiled! *waves cane around*

Welcome aboard!

The best thing you can say about Rick and Morty is that none of the episodes are bad, just bad in comparison to other, much stronger episodes. It's consistently maintained a very high standard.

Maybe we won't have to wait almost a year for new episodes either, cause I gotta say that waiting a year between seasons was almost as bad as how long we waited between episodes.
 
Holy fuck, that new episode was crazy. In summary...

  • Tammy and Bird Person get married
  • It's revealed that Rick, Bird Person, Squanchy, and many of his friends are all considered fugitives and war criminals by the Galactic Federation, although Rick insists they were fighting for freedom as they view the Federation as an oppressive, authoritarian government.
  • Tammy ends up being an undercover agent for the Galactic Federation and fucking murders Bird Person. In the ensuing shootout between the Galactic Federation and the wedding party some reoccurring characters are killed.
  • Rick and the rest of the Smith family are forced to abandon Earth to go into hiding.
  • Earth becomes a member of the Galactic Federation, merging the human and alien worlds.
  • Behind Rick's back, Jerry proposes that they turn in Rick in exchange for being allowed to return home and live peacefully. Beth, Morty, and Summer all oppose this because they love Rick and won't screw him over, even if it's irrational.
  • Rick overhears everything and it seems to melt his cold, black heart; he leaves the family to go to a neighboring planet and calls the Galactic Federation, impersonates Jerry, and negotiates a deal that will allow the Smith family to return home without any punishment.
  • Rick gets arrested and the Smiths are brought back to Earth.
  • Earth is now under the jurisdiction of the Galactic Federation and tons of aliens are now here as tourists or permanent residents.
  • Rick is placed in a maximum-security prison for the rest of his life.

This finale was insanely emotional. I never thought I'd get so invested in this show!

We need a date for season 3 now. Except, in the words of Mr. Poopybutthole, it could be a year and a half... or longer :c
 
At the start of Interdimensional Cable 3, they should have a title sequence that parodies The Simpsons' Halloween episodes, the reasoning being that the episode is 'scary' because of all the people dreading the episode being even lousier than the second. You know they'll keep doing one a season, so they may as well be honest about it.

Mr PoopyButthole lives!

And if you think about it, there's a hint of what's to come if you consider
the last part of "Hurt" that they didn't play at the end of the episode.

A million miles away,
I will keep myself,
I would find a way
 
So I saw the first two episodes. I really liked it. I feel like the characters are really well developed and the worlds they go to are a lot of fun to see.

Not gonna lie, I'm dying to see this exchange at the beginning of season three:

"Mr. Meeseeks, break Rick out of prison!"
"OOOOOOOH, CAN DO!!!!!!!!! I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!!!!!!!"

Two theories of mine:
  1. It's just for the sake of humor. Seeing Rick freak out about everything being on the cob for seemingly no reason is just funny.
  2. Maybe Cob World was a Twilight Zone-esque planet where prolonged exposure will turn you into on the cob.
