Good words, even if you aren't particularly religious, there is wisdom here.

There's only negative effects to caring so much about every little problem the world faces. I'm a simple man, with zero control over things happening outside my place of employment, my home, and my family.

he was a personal lolcow of mine, being a pompous midwit with no social awareness or sense of humour, and the one girl he asked out just said straight up that she was a lesbian - not "I have a boyfriend", "I'm a lesbian"

In college people can more easily gather information about each other through parties and friend groups. If she was single she might be afraid he already knew, and gave him the lesbian line.

I don't believe these two ever loved eachother at all, or it was heavily one-sided.

I get the feeling some women have their marraige hit a rocky part, they don't feel love (as strongly) nor do they want to fuck another guy right that moment. So they decide they're a lesbian.

I’ve noticed that really militant vegans often let some unconscious contempt for animals slip out, kind of the same way super liberal white people don’t realize when their own ideology makes them sound racist.

When I went looking for examples I actually found a few articles and Reddit threads where vegans admitted they didn’t really like animals that much, they just like feeling morally superior to other humans. The number of “I thought I was the only one!” comments under that article are very telling. Most of these people are fueled by narcissism, not ethics.

Many of them love to depict animals most people care about as pets in sadistic ways to highlight the “hypocrisy” of eating some animals while caring about others. First of all, so what? Most people do in fact care about some animals more than others and have never pretended otherwise. According to vegan logic, a Chinese wet market is less objectionable than caring about dogs and cats because at least they’re consistent about torturing and killing all species equally.
