I wish I had the borderline autistic levels of investment Mike has for Star Trek for something productive in my life. I don't mean that as an insult, by the way. For all I know some of the greatest geniuses in history had that same sort of investment in their craft, which could be why I'm able to say this right now.

I'm about 20 minutes in and my jaw is on the floor.

I deliberately avoided Picard and all information I got about it, I got from RLM.

I am legitimately dumbstruck by how stupid this show is. I almost feel like I owe the Next Gen Trek films an apology...almost.

I'm gonna get a grey beard and a pair of hipster glasses. Maybe then I can be a science fiction writer too.

That ending montage killed me, though. More emotionally wrenching than a bunch of bots crying about Data wanting to off himself.

They need to make the green screen of the "Jar of Pointless Mystery" segment available to the public. Because there are so many shows and movies that could use that smeared over the top.

Also, I realized when I was watching this that Plinkett had nicer things to say about First Contact, Insurrection, Avatar, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and The Last Jedi than the absolute beat down he gave this stupid show.

I never knew about the Robotic Space Octopus. Had I been watching Picard from start to finish, that would have been the moment that would have broken me.

That literally feels like something I would see as a placeholder for an unfinished script, but then they just went with it because they couldn't think of anything else. Kind of like how that one episode of South Park ended with Crab people...they couldn't think of anything else and just went with it.

But South Park got away with it because its a comedy and Crab people worked as an absurd joke. Robotic Space Octopus is so hackey and dumb, I would expect more out of an Asylum film.

EDIT:
"This show is making me racist"
"So being gay is a choice! Just like what all those Christian preachers said!"
"Make Picard Gay! I double dog dare you! You cowards!"

I'm dead, LOL

And that closing montage was legitimately depressing. Good God, what happened?
