I didn't know about this situation until the Rich Evans reaction video.
A consequence of having good taste. As hilarious as it is to see yet another example of how the nerd crew really isn’t exagerating much with their parody, I cringed so fucking hard when he said he’d been busting his ass being a star wars fan for five years. There are so many things wrong with that sentiment that it kind of just sums up everything wrong with the modern entertainment industry itself.

Aside from pulling back the veil disguising corporate shill nonsense as genuine fan labor, it’s true that people literally have to put effort into being fans of these franchises because most of them peaked fucking decades ago. If it weren’t for RLM, Star Wars would have no value to me at all anymore lol

it's a horrible consequence of nerdy stuff being super popular
the landscape is being filled with bland people who's only goal in life is to "be popular" and now that nerdy is chic, they are desperatly just liking [product] for popularity points. all the while kicking the real nerds out because "ugh, why do i have to put up with the lower class plebians?"

It’s a double-edged sword for sure. On the one hand, everything you said is true, but on the other, it’s really fun to make fun of, especially for people-watching smartasses like us here.
that is true
and i hope no one is suggesting i want to be an uber strict gate keeper
9 out of 10 people just getting into nerdy stuff at least have a passing interest
kind of like someone saying "I like this band but i can only name 3 songs by them" that's fine whatever

but the people who (let's see how horribly stretched out i can make this metaphor) can't even name one song, and got angry because they weren't invited to a concert all the while screaming that the fans are evil and blah blah blah get out rreeeeee.
i hate those people

Why the fuck would you need to put work into being a Star Wars fan?

Like damn for actual fans this isn't work it's fun. And 5 years isn't shit. This is a franchise that's over 40 years old.

Although these posers are the reason why Power of The Force stuff is starting to rise in price. Shit was nigh worthless for a long ass time which made it real cheap to buy if you were a fan trying to fill out your collection and get good renditions of the vehicles and random figures(also army building stormtroopers).

I wonder how many of these fake nerds ponied up the cash for Jabba's Sail barge. It was like 5 grand or something insane and it's larger than the USS Flag. I had zero room for it because I have multiple large robot figures that are well over 2-3 feet long or tall each. I'm debating getting that Jurassic park 3 foot tall brachiosaurus because I'm sure there's a way to 3d print battle armor for it in the future.

They're going to try and get RLM Demonetized and deleted off of youtube because of rich evans laughing at them I bet.

Disney would get massive, massive erections if they could de-monitize RLM. But the backlash would be fucking insane. You know where they generally stand and are just cagey enough, but the sad thing is there will never be a new person making the next RLM because YouTube has decided to strangle itself for the walking dead corpse of old media, which is in its death throes right now.

All YouTube wants on its site is shill channels and corporate content. The problem is because they're intensely popular, the backlash would be crazy. Removing RLM would be pure insanity. But then again, YouTube has never acted rationally.
