I haven't been watching RLM in probably a year or so, but wanted to see the reception from them on The Odyssey, and while I'm not surprised they had a positive reaction, I will say it feels a bit like they are sorta kinda trying to justify liking it in a way, and thus having to explain away any of the more criticized elements of it.

I will always retain warm and affectionate feelings for RLM, but I've stopped watching RLM because I've stopped watching new movies.

Mike ends with "I don't have faith in the human race to go and see this." In case it isn't clear: These two are only willing to relate to the film as snobs. Mike reinforces this by belittling the attention span of anyone "bored" during the three hour film.

By this logic, they would have been head over heels for that Zach Snyder space opera shlock that they happily shat all over. You wonder where exactly the line is being drawn between the "impartial" image they are trying to cultivate and how much they are being paid to shill since they became arguably the most relevant trusted movie critics working today.

I'll put the schizo hat on and say they are occasionally given their marching orders from their Satanist culture cultivators (the headquarters of the church of Satan is in Detroit) and this movie was something they were off limits from giving fair criticism.

I hope they make another movie or at least lean into more avant garde content like the melting down of the Star Wars figures or Josh Robert Thompson as George Lucas calling the Bodyblade folks. That seems to be their sweet spot. Not saying they need to be shock jocks but when the culture at large is ebbing like it is now, original content like that is even more valued and precious.

If you are surprised in the least that they liked The Odyssey, you're an idiot. Shit had everything they want from a Hollywood movie in current year and it's delivered to them by a Christopher Nolan who knows what's up and not someone like that idiot Curry Barker who signed on for the Texas Chainsaw Remake (their own summary, not mine).
