I don't know who those fags are but I'm delighted you gave yourself a sensible chuckle with that sick reference, bro.
The point is that you're saying that it's Mike's fault Youtube sucked because of all the knockoffs in the wake of Plinkett, as if he has any control over the fags trying to imitate that style of video or the attitude put into it. Don't pretend you don't understand what I'm saying.

No, I'm saying he created or had the most influence on that side of YouTube. He is responsible for the never ending knock offs, people thinking they could make careers out of being nerds that shit on movies/tv/anything non stop and have their gimp fanbase lap it up. He is everything he hates and it shows.

I did not say its his fault all of YouTube is shite. Settle down, you angry fan boy.

The only thing Mike is responsible for is JJ Abrahms directing Star Wars movies. Have Mike and Kathleen Kennedy ever been seen at the same place at the same time? Gets the ole noggin' a joggin'...

I said don't pretend

They loved Nosferatu as well so that makes sense, that movie was awful…
Jay's "too cool for the room" attitude often rears its head during their horror reviews. He'll trash universally praised high budget horror classics. Then salivate over the most mediocre forgettable straight to VHS obscure nothing of a movie because it's the hipster thing to do for the audience. Jay probably enjoys stuff like Nosferatu or Sinners more than The Godfather.

It’s tough for me to discern sometimes! Not so much a PL but a fact about myself, in the past I’ve had blind spots and some difficulties seeing things from other people’s POV (probably got a touch of the ‘tism), so I try really hard as an adult to see things the way others do, and for the most part I do a decent job (that’s not just my assessment of myself, others who I trust to be brutally honest have said it)! When it comes to Nosferatu though, I REALLY don’t see what everyone was creaming themselves over? The film is poorly lit, the jumpscares are numerous and cheap, the orgasm seizures were just off-putting and the ending was… well, I get the point of the ending but it was just such a muffled fart in terms of capping off a story? I actually enjoyed Sinners for what it was, though I’m certain the only reason it got all the accolades is ‘cuz of the minority casting and the Klan shooting at the end…

It's pretty clear that Jay is a dummy who has a boner for filmmaking techniques.
Doesn't matter how nonsensical and retarded a movie is as long as it looks good.

I've noticed that he really struggles to understand basic plot points, even in simplistic trash like Batman v Superman.

More screenshots from Hokum.
I liked the director's other things, but I had a feeling this one would not be to my liking for several reasons. However, those reasons might be easily ignored if watching it on my screen turns out to be a virtual radio play.

I hate this trend so much. I think I invented a new term: doomshotting. It's like doomscrolling, except you're taking screenshots from movies that are 80% black and 20% yellow/blue because you want to show other people how it puts you off. I'm going through the new Nosferatu as we speak. While it isn't as dark as Hokum, the palette is more limited. It's basically just dark orange and gray.

More screenshots from movies that are bafflingly dark and fake looking.

A lot of it has to do with them being graded on top of-the-range OLED TV if not a $30k professional monitor which has far better contrast and nit levels than most TVs in homes.

Also, even if you have an OLED TV, you have to make sure you have got the auto dim turned off, or for dark scenes it will get super dark, also having other settings sorted out. Which is something most people never do.

This is not defending it. Most of these movies still don't look great on OLEDS, but they aren't too dark on them.

A big issue is also how movies are shot. This doesn't fit Nosferatu, which was shot on 35mm film, but with digital ones. Lots of digital movies are shot flat, which allows them to change the look more in post-production rather than being shot with intent for the final look and having less room to change it. On top of this, digital doesn't need you to light sets as much to get a workable image vs film, so most films now use soft lights to light sets. Shallow depth of field is also used because that also means they don't have to light as much of what they are recording.

I watched Hokum because they loved it so much and it sucked.

I hate their latest video and shitting on YouTubers managing to make well received feature length movies.
Didn't they try to make one or more movies themselves and it went nowhere?
Mike says that this yt to feature pipeline will end in a year.
Both Mike and Jay are such Hollywood ballwaxers that makes me want to shoot the screen when they're doing those condescending rants

Forgive me if I come across as a bit autistic here, but shouldn't he dislike Nosferatu then? Similar to Hereditary (another movie Jay loves), Nosferatu is "elevated" horror. It's masquerading as high art, and the critics sang its praises. It's the opposite of lowbrow straight to VHS fare. You seem to be saying that Jay craps on the former and prefers the latter, but that isn't borne out by his opinion of Nosferatu.

No. Jay likes hipster crap. Especially if it is horror. Doesn't matter if it's straight to VHS or from a mega studio. If it's a horror movie, bad or good, Jay will almost always praise it. Has nothing to do with the critics. It's that Jay fashions himself as some type of horror movie aficionado or gatekeeper. An expert on all things horror. So he's reacting to general audience perception regardless of what the critics think. Horror is his thing. Even bad horror.

That's why I said Jay likes Night of the Lepers and Killer Klowns from Outer Space more than things like The Godfather or Goodfellas. He just can't help himself with his hipster contrarian persona. Jay's doing a doctoral thesis on Killer Klowns from Outer Space or The Devil Bat but passively dismisses Apocalypto or Gladiator as if those films offer nothing of substance.

Even "elevated horror" is a hipster faggot term. I look at the list of so called 'elevated' horror films and just see arthouse slop.
