How can they like Picard season 3? It sucks dick, it might suck less than season 1 or 2 but it still sucks dick. It's about time trekkies just accept that Star Trek is dead and it's never coming back.
I think they’re so broken for good Star Trek content, they’d accept anything that is mediocre at best.

Watch the Star Trek: The Motion Picture Re:View where Mike (not Rich, oddly) gushes about a movie that's about as entertaining as a screen saver and you'll understand. When it comes to Trek, Mike (much more so than Rich) is the consoomer meme Jay unwittingly spawned. It's simultaneously sad and endearing.

Personally, I don't think there's been any good Trek made this century, which suggests it's a 20th century phenomenon that should be allowed to rest.

The bleeping experiment is weird, I thought the point of the Patreon was to give them a certain amount of freedom on Youtube. They might as well post "uncensored" versions there if that's the way it's going.

The narrative that season 3 is this magically different show doesn't really track - it was shot back to back with season 2 and the idea that Akiva leaving suddenly fixed all the problems is not how TV works. The showrunner has been there since the beginning, he probably knew how to end it properly and is making the rounds to promote it to fans.

Star Trek was more or less more of the brains compared to Star Wars where it's more dumb fun. If you want good Trek, Next Gen is the best way to start then to DS9.

It had a kernel of a good idea: weird alien probe comes to earth causing a ruckus, Kirk's intrepid crew must figure out a way to end the ruckus

They reused it for IV but IV actually had humor and much better character writing

While discussing the Gunan's bar scene Mike notices a Left Hand Brewery Co logo:
"...because I'm a beer.. aficionado..."

Alcoholic Mike, the word you were reaching for is alcoholic.

*sigh* You're right. That was literally the capstone to it all.

I made that 20th/21st century observation to a friend of mine who immediately countered with "Well what about First Contact?" His face fell when I reminded him First Contact goes back to 1996.

should have reminded him instead that first contact blows.
