Anyone know why specifically 2,387 figures? Is the number a reference to something you nerds would know about?

Yes, it's a reference to the number of EU novels there are....

Lol, no. It's just that's how many they could get their hands on en masse. Either people sending them in (90% certain everything they destroy in various vids is just random shit sent to their PO Box) or shit they could buy dirt cheap.

When Jay says he thinks there was some other movie that tried to do what Airplane did to disaster movies, the only one that came to mind was the 1976 parody film The Big Bus which was about the maiden journey of the first nuclear powered passenger bus, where a saboteur has planted a bomb.

It was a subgenre ripe for parody at the time considering how many disaster movies and novels were being produced, people still write novels about disasters but there were plenty of them, bestsellers and cheap paperbacks and everything between in the spinner racks at stores really took off for a while during the 1960s and 70s. Admittedly, there were some pretty solid entries in disaster books. You may be familiar with the formula: the large cast of characters, the fraught interpersonal relationships and and many "gripping" subplots including a red herring or two, the looming crisis, circumstance and hubris and incompotence threatening to thwart the characters' attempts to stave off the disaster off, etc.

Someone in the RLM subreddit mentioned that he's been following their eBay account ever since they gave fans the link to it a few years back and they've been buying up figurines en masse for the last few months.

I feel this Therapy will be a good thing for Mike.

It might heal him mentally enough to stop making Black Spine Editions of Best of the Worst.

They really can't escape 9/11
And when Rich Evans mentions 9/11, not only does the video switch to the twin towers but it also starts to imitate his voice...this is showbiz pizza bear levels of supernatural fuckery

Also Rich and Jay's perfectly symphony of "OH MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWD!" was just sublime
