Mike's speech at the end was brutal, damn. :(

Fortunately I do have the ability to just ignore shit continuations of franchises like this, or the Star Wars sequels, or the 8 million terrible Terminator sequels, etc. Like they said, the characters are barely acting like themselves anyway so I don't even find it that hard. At best Picard is just glorified fanfiction, an alternate nightmare reality created by people who do not know or care about Star Trek. It's a show made by morons, for morons.

"Mike, we need that chair." fucking slayed me.

Not even a fan of Star Trek, but I feel Mike and Rich's pain. Time travelling to the present shows how little the writers care for Star Trek. They do not want to even attempt a message that is not totally on the nose.

I'm with Mike on this one. I can't rewatch TNG anymore. I often pick up an episode of TOS, DS9 or ENT with no problem but I can't with TNG.
I can't ignore what they're doing, Alex Kurtzman and Akiva Goldsman are doing everything they can to demoralize people, they have ruined the past (TOS era), the future (post-VOY and far future) and now they're going back to the past to completely destroy it (new Pike spin-off).

Looking at how heart-broken and defeated Mike looked at the end of this review made me glad that this streaming service isn't even available in my country.

Poor Mike.

All those clips of him interviewing the actors is just pathetic. Its like he's on his knees begging for a job.
As I've noted before, Wheaton is part of this whole seedy stratum of "celebrities" who mostly try to keep themselves in some sort of spotlight by pandering to "nerd culture" - it's a life raft they cling to to keep their careers, such as they are, from sinking into the depths of deserved obscurity.

I've been rewatching TNG lately but I just pretend Picard season 1 didn't happen and I haven't been watching season 2. Nor will I watch season 3 because I'm terrified of what they're going to do to the rest of the cast. I just feel bad for Mike. It sucks when something new infringes on your enjoyment of something old. It happened to me with Doctor Who.

Edit - Also, no wonder Picard sucks when these are the writers.

We are Pakled. We write things. Things that go explode.

The moral of the story in Star Trek: Picard is that no matter how bad it gets, how stupid the writing can be, and the endless mistakes the writers and cast make that piss you off and make you hate star trek
You're not Wil Wheaton

And you know what, maybe things aren't that bad after all :)

Even a show that makes ICE one of the primary antagonists and has constant identity politics says "Wil Wheaton? That's too much soy."
