I wonder if the Mike Stoklasa of 2010 would appreciate the things Star Wars had at the time a bit more if he were to look 10 years into the future, both at himself, and the state of things as they are now. Would he truly feel the same way? Who knows...

Well, in the Half in the Bag: Rise of Skywalker review, Mike was trying to convince himself that he had nothing to do with J.J. Abrams being selected to work on this Sequel Trilogy (despite that being a huge point he made in his Plinkett reviews of the Prequels-- and nobody can deny how cemented those reviews are in internet history at this point). Haha.

I'm sure that the RLM guys never wanted Disney to buy Lucasfilm, at the very least. I think their opinions have remained consistent in that sense. I don't think they have gained appreciation for things that happened during the "Prequel Era" of Star Wars, but I think that they acknowledge how even more soulless and cheapened the Star Wars brand has become since being bought by the Mouse.

TO BE FAIR Force Awakens is decent. No one immediately hated it. Who could have predicted what a shit show the new trilogy would eventually become?

They explicitly said the prequels are still shit in their HitB on tRoS. And they're right.

Literally the millions of people who said Rey was a Mary Sue with no character motivation, Finn is either the dumbest or the most evil character to ever exist, the plot is just a shallow and exploitative ripoff of ANH, the setting is confusing and poorly explained, and old characters were treated poorly and downright disrespected. These are all complaints that were made contemporaneous with TFA's release, and they're still just as true today as they were back then.

Don't forget Mike fucked Jay's crush and they hated each other so badly Mike dipped out to Arizona to get away from him for a year and look at them now.
To be fair, I'd ruin a friendship and spend a year in the scorching Arizona heat if it meant I could fuck Rich Evans just once.

Seriously though, I've never heard of this. Can someone fill me in on this lore?

Edit: I never noticed it before, but damn if Mike's old avatar wasn't cringey af. It reminds me of that old avatar Armoured Skeptic had, complete with Fedora! GODDAMN, Mike! I am officially Team Jay for that era, beta-orbiter or not, based on that pic alone!
