Coolio, the rapper best known for his 1995 hit "Gangsta's Paradise", has died, his manager confirmed to CBS News. He was 59.
Coolio, whose real name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr., died on Wednesday in Los Angeles, his manager said. A cause of death was not immediately given.
The Los Angeles-based rapper was best known for his Grammy Award-winning single "Gangsta's Paradise," which was featured on the soundtrack for 1995's "Dangerous Minds" starring Michelle Pfeiffer. The song is considered one of the most successful rap songs of all time after it spent 3 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100.
In 1996 he recorded the opening "Aw, Here It Goes!" for the Nickelodeon television series "Kenan & Kel" starring Kenan Thompson.
This is a breaking news story. It will be updated as more information becomes available.
Well I thought he was kind of cool until he had an autistic meltdown over a Weird Al song. he was being a hypocrite about anyway because he ripped it off himself.
Unpopular opinion: I've listened to Gangster's Paradise. Its tempo is all over the place and inconsistent with the lyrics. The beat is good; it's just poorly executed with the rhythm.

Hate to be that guy but you're wrong about the tempo. If a drum machine is carrying the backbeat and it doesn't drastically alter (like this tune) then the tempo won't vary.
Going to go listen to it again now and see if you're right.

Most of the time O'D's are reported by the media because of how common they are. All news outlets are saying is that he was found unresponsive and could not be resuscitated. My money is that he pulled a David Carradine and his friends don't want to tell people how he really died. Ver archivo adjunto 3699846
Yeah "Cardiac Arrest" teally just means "He's Dead Jim". He was also a Black Man with a history of Rap Star Life who was hitting 60. Can't rule out he just threw a "Widowmaker". Which is real real common in Black Men of his generation.
