This is frustrating because it's almost right. "Homosexual" and "straight" didn't become very rigid and divided until the 19th century in many ways. You could say that the understanding was that there were heterosexual and homosexual "lusts," rather than "orientations." It's right that we could say that there were a lot of "bromances" in historical European communities like the monk here alludes to.
