Children can't make important medical decisions because they are not wise enough or mature enough to understand the gravity of their medical decisions.

I think in the Lab area or something, there's logs that refer to Mettaton as "they" before he gets his body, afterwards he's only referred to as "he". I think Undyne refers to him by both at some point too.
Tumblrinas have taken 'they' pronouns to the extreme and throw the non-binary label fucking everywhere, disregarding the fact that most monsters in the game are actually called "it" and that "they" was only used to make the main character androgynous. When the game was still being crowdfunded, it was outright stated the MC's gender was purposefully up for interpretation. So yeah, a lot of this shit never cropped up until Tumblr got their grubby fingers all over Undertale.

That's such a bizarre concept, to define goodness and badness solely based on sexuality and gender alone, with the more outrageous genders and sexualities being indicative of a higher moral character. There's also such a naivety about it, and it's perfect for setting up and getting caught in traps by skeevy motherfuckers.

I think that's why so many of these communities seem to be made up solely of abusers and victims.

Yeah, children can't really make those decisions, but I honestly think that most of these people who want teenagers to be able to make their own medical decisions are probably either A: people who have decided theyre trans and are mad that their parents won't pay thousands for HRT, or B: the people who think having disabilities and mental illnesses, I'm sorry, "neurodivergency" is cool and part of their identity, and therefore don't want to take medication or physical therapy.

I can't really think of any reason for a child or teen to make a medical decision, unless said parent is incompetent. But even then, if a parent is too incompetent to make a major medical decision for their child, the child may need a simple change of guardian, not be allowed to make the decision themselves.
