I know kyle said he think the pilot could be done this year, bur really it not gonna be done this year or next year, or the year after. it gonna be along wait if it ever gets finished.

Well, we're only two months into the year, so who knows?

It took me a month to animate a 6 minute short, and even then it was very limited

I'm pretty sure they were aiming for 11 minutes, though they may want the pilot to be 22 minutes

Alternately, like Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo and Cow and Chicken, he could use 3 7-minute scripts in a half-hour.

I think what bothers me the most about Growing Around is how the characters lack any sort of personality. They're so passionate about writing a slice of life show, a genre that depends on having interesting characters, and all they have are blank slates.

You'd be surprised. Usually, in theatre, we guess how long a play is by counting the pages, but even so, you can have a 14 page script fill up 35 minutes if you stage and pace it correctly. Animation (and recorded works in general ) are a bit trickier when it comes to time, however.
For example, a short film I wrote was around 20 pages but ended up being only five minutes long (though that was mainly due to cutting some things out).

Which begs to question why they couldn't have at least worked on a pitch bible/an arc before writing the pilot

Animation like that will take awhile. And I mean AWHILE since none of them are professional
