You Were Never Really Here. I always wonder about that film if the writer and director had any inside knowledge of pedophile rings in Hollywood / political sphere. To be 100% clear, I don't mean complicity. I mean knowing it exists and not being able to do anything about it. The entire film is about how helpless you are when it's those in power who are the child molesters; and about challenging that helplessness. I've sometimes wondered if the film, which was very low-budget and received little wider promotion, was one of those attempts to raise awareness amongst outsiders. They began making it in 2016.

Theory on the film
I think the politician who hires him has been part of the child abuse ring and has a moment of awakening when it's finally his own daughter that gets pulled into it. He's expected to go along with it but can't. That's how he knows whats going on and why he behaves the way he does.
