Unless there is evidence otherwise, I honestly think Chris is writing and believing this crap on this own. While he got the merge idea from the Idea Guys, ever since they were gone Chris has gone on this egotistical tirades about the merge so he can no longer be burdened by real world responsibilities.

I liked some of it. I barely watch anime so I didn't get all the references myself but it had funny shit in it and since I like a lot of dark comedy a week ex of mine recommended we watch it and it was good. I still scratched my head at some jokes and shrugged at others. To me it's a lot like Chris took some parts of it seriously. Like he legit didn't know the shows creator being a main character wasn't a joke and he legit used it as justification to do the same to himself.
