Scott is a narcissistic beta male that dates an underage(?) asian girl, so it is totally within the realm of possibility that Ramona is his tranny dream waifu. They even have the co-opting of traditional gender roles, wherein Scott acts as Ramona's knight and proves his worth by defeating all of her exes (who are also beta males and one female with low standards).
Damn.
It soon will be, after the dimensional merge![]()
This thread is depressing because it reminds one of how nutty feminists and circus freaks trying to pass themselves as women co opted a look that once belong to cool, fuckable punk or goth chicks. Hell, even 2000s emo kids were better than the former two.
Law of nature. Everything that gets too much Hollywood exposure eventually turns to shit.I miss those days(before the manic pixie dream girl look was "culturally appropriated")
Some things haven't aged terribly well like the fight scenes, but a lot of the people going back and saying it hasn't aged well are viewing it through the woke lens of [Current Year]. Culture from the mid 2000'd and from now are two entirely different beasts. You know up until recently I completely forgot the Scott Pilgrim shit was even a thing. I guess people are saying it hasn't aged well.

Michael Cera has ruined a whole generation of men.
Scott pilgrim is fucking terrible. The dialogue was so obnoxious I gave up after the 3rd book.
The movie was just as bad.
It had an interesting premise and I hoped the things I didn't like would get better. They didn't and it got worse until it was unbearable. After the third book? It was terrible but good enough that you read three whole books? Is this the reading equivalent of "Played 1000 hours, 0/10"?

I actually really liked the Scott Pilgrim books when I read them in highschool and to an extent still like them now. I kinda see them as a weird alternate reality where if those kind of hipsterish people weren't so fucked up IRL with all the hard drugs, ideology, mental illness and obnoxious behavior that those in that circle tend to engage in, it would be idyllic in the "weird quirky outcast hipster friends worrying about just their own personal bullshit" way that appeals to me as a lonely dude with not much going on in life. The graphic novel still has a nice art style even now; theres a reason why chibi-anime artstyles with bold linework endure to this day, and its likely in large part due to Scott Pilgrim. Its been probably 5-6 years since I've read it though, so my memory might not be especially clear on it. Tempted to do a read-through in the Art and Literature subforum in a similar vein to the Games subforum's Lets Sperg threads.
Also Knives is the best girl, theres a reason why the movie included an alternate ending where she won.
EDIT: Yeah Ramona definitely has a pickle
We've all had those times in our lives where we've consumed something shitty because we're bored, have free time, and are curious. After the third book? It was terrible but good enough that you read three whole books? Is this the reading equivalent of "Played 1000 hours, 0/10"?

Hopefully he didn't pay for it.
