Racial identity and genealogy thread

Mostly English and Irish, with some traces of Scottish and German. My dad's side of the family has been here since colonial days, and my mom's side arrived in Canada in the 19th Century (around the time of the potato famine) before settling in America. All around, this makes me as American as apple pie.

I'm 100% boring ole European. Despite me, as many call it, looking Swedish, I actually don't have Swedish ancestory as far as I'm aware. My ancestory comes mostly from the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, with some French sprinkled in. There might be more, I'd be lying if I said I'd ever really looked into it. The point is basically that it's all just west European, as boring as that is.

I'm 1/4 Indian, from my moms side, I've got German from my dads side, his mother is German, and the rest is I guess English, or Caucasian. I know some ancestors on my dads, fathers side were confederate soldiers and the ones that first came to America might have been French. And that would make sense cause my last name sounds French, its really uncommon too, I'm not even gonna put it here cause if you Google it, my family and relatives are the results you'll get lol

I doubt that. I suppose though if you are from there it seems less exotic.

Hispanic and Apache on my dad's side, Polish, German, Irish and Swedish on my mom's. I don't get along with my family well enough to do genealogy for them, but if this counts for the thread, I'm hoping to fill in as many identities of the lost graves at old cemeteries in my area come the dry season.

I don't think any ancestry/genealogy is boring! Especially if you're mixed!

I was born in Ireland. I'm Irish. My parents are Irish. My grandparents are all Irish.

My ancestry is fairly dull.

I have German and some Spanish ancestry in my dad's side. My mom is mixed race, so it's possible I have some Black and/or Amerindian ancestry (But most of my relatives on my mom's side are whites, though, so I still need to research more about my ancestry.)

Mostly Irish with some English/German on my Dad's side. As for my mother's? Well, she's adopted, so I have no clue.

People think I'm either Spanish, French or Italian, though. I even had one girl from Somalia think I was Arab!

And for all I know, they might be right.

I'd gladly give up just a little bit of what I know about my family so that they could learn some more about theirs.

My mother had a enough foresight 20 years ago to interview her mother about our Chinese family history and tape record it. However my grandmother only knew a backwoods village dialect of Cantonese, and my mom's own knowledge of Chinese has deteriorated over the years. Mom will have to enlist the help of a family friend who knows this dialect much better as well as my fluent-in-Chinese sister to help transcribe/translate my late grandmother's words.

All of my ancestry is from Eastern Europe and Russia

All I know is that I have some Scottish and German blood.

Irish on Dads side , English on Mums.
I however am 100% Prime Aussie beefsteak !!!

This thread is just racial appropriation and you should all be checking your privileges

OT though I am more likely Welsh on dad's side, don't know about the rest of my ancestry.

I'll be sure to check my Native American privilege.

I've heard the joke tossed around between me and my IRL friends that I wouldn't know which 1800s railroad to work on since I'm both Chinese and Irish. *yawn*
Apparently an ancestor of my Chinese grandfather had been to Mexico at some point??

I'd love to study my genealogy one of these days. But here is what I do know: My dad is Jamaican and Cuban. How much Cuban is up for debate because I've heard everything from my Grandfather being Afro-Cuban to just a Jamaican who happened to be fluent in Spanish. My mom is Gullah-Geechee which is a type of African-American. And her grandmother was at least part Native-American.

I just consider myself black.

Hooray more graphs! Okay so here's my incredibly unscientific pie chart based on people's mentions of ethnicity. Looks like Germans rule!

Just like real life, everyone's fucking German, yet unlike real life,There's almost as many American Indians as English.
