He's going to decline the offer because he spent 10 years trying to get this particular job despite being the most qualified person for it in several states. If they make the offer again when he's close to retirement he will take it though.

He finds the entire thing hilarious. The people bitching about it were obviously not hired due to merit. The people giving up their 150k a year jobs for a few months of pay, especially a job that requires a full background check from the secret service are a bunch of 80 IQ apes. My dad has over 40 years of experience doing his particular job. He knows he isn't going anywhere.
