Putin Mocked Over Single Tank at Victory Parade

For the second year in a row, a lone Soviet-era tank rolled across Moscow's Red Square during Russia's Victory Day parade, prompting social media users to mock President Vladimir Putin's military's procession on a day which is traditionally used to display the country's might.

A single T-34 tank participated in the parade in Moscow to mark May 9, or Victory Day, which is the annual commemoration of Nazi Germany's defeat during World War II. Like last year, this year's procession was notably muted in contrast to previous events amid Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine, during which both sides have suffered extensive casualties and have lost vast amounts of military equipment.

Agentstvo, a Russian investigative site, said this year's modest parade indicates that the war in Ukraine, which began in February 2022, continues to absorb all of the Russian army's resources.

"Truly hilarious that the T-14 Armata has been found not only too costly to use in Ukraine, but also doesn't exist in large enough numbers to survive the attrition of the Victory Day Parade in Moscow," said Oliver Alexander, an OSINT analyst, on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"This T-34, the legendary Soviet tank from World War II, was the only Russian tank on display at the Victory Day parade in Red Square today," said Max Seddon, Moscow bureau chief for the Financial Times. "The others must all be busy somewhere!"

Pro-Ukrainian X user (((Tendar))) wrote: Well, at least it runs."

Another X user added: "Nothing says second army in the world more than a lonely tank at your victory day parade for a second year in a row."

Last year, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense published a video mocking the lone T-34 tankthat participated in Moscow's Red Square Victory Day parade.

"This Victory Day, Russia had exactly one tank rolling down Red Square...a T-34 first produced in 1940," the ministry said on X, sharing a 40-second video that included clips from last year's military parade. It was made up of a montage of clips of the tank, played against the backdrop of Eric Carmen's hit song "All by Myself."

More than two years into Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, both Moscow and Kyiv have sustained significant losses.

Dutch open-source intelligence defense analysis website Oryx has visually confirmedthat 2,001 Russian tanks have been destroyed, 156 have been damaged, 329 have been abandoned, and 514 have been captured since the start of the war.

Oryx has also visually confirmed that 547 Ukrainian tanks have been destroyed since the beginning of the war, with 68 damaged, 61 abandoned, and 132 captured.

Kyiv's military said in an update on Thursday that Moscow has lost 7,429 tanks so far, including 11 in the past day. The General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces posts figures onRussia's troop and equipment losses as part of its daily update on the war. Newsweek could not independently verify the figures.

Estimates of casualty numbers vary, with Ukraine's figures usually exceeding those of its Western allies. Moscow rarely shares information on the number of casualties or equipment losses it has sustained in the war.

The Institute for the Study of War, a U.S.-based think tank, said in its latest analysis of the conflict in Ukraine on Wednesday that recent satellite imagery of depleted Russian militaryvehicle and weapon storage facilities indicates that Moscow is "currently sustaining its war effort largely by pulling from storage rather than by manufacturing new vehicles and certain weapons at scale."

"Russia is relying on vast Soviet-era stores of vehicles and other equipment to sustain operations and losses in Ukraine," the think tank said, adding that Moscow will likely struggle to sufficiently equip its units with materiel in the long term without President Vladimir Putin transferring the Russian economy to a wartime footing.

You'd think the guys who keep boasting about their glorious victory over Germany and constantly crow about how the T-34 was the best tank of the war would have a few running in decent condition...

War Thunder/World of Tanks nerds, tell me where to kick it to shatter its armor and make the treads fall off.

It's specifically a Soviet era tank because it's commemorating WW2. I doubt there's a whole lot of tanks from 80 years ago in running condition, this is really reaching

The ones they use in the parades are most likely post-war models made outside of Russia since the WWII era T-34s were pretty low quality and unreliable. It's pretty well-known that Russia has gathered a lot of post-war T-34s from other countries like Laos and North Korea by offering more modern tanks in exchange, like T-72s.

Mocked by whom? By hohols? lol. Get roasted, pigs.

This is of course an insane solzhenitsyn-style lie. We had Topol nuke launchers this year (as we have them every year).

We do have them. If you want to look at historical and modern tanks, there's a museum in Kubinka (1h and $2 from Moscow, adult admittance $10), they even have driving and shooting shows on holidays (Victory Day, Red Army Day, Tank Crewman Day, etc). There'll be one tomorrow.

(City officials really hate tanks (and tracked vehicles in general), they fuck up roads and Red Square's historical pavement.)

What would be the point of having like a company of T-34s? It certainly wouldn't stop pigs from squealing, "look, the moskals don't have modern weaponry". The T-34 is in the lead for symbolism, and modern weaponry and vehicles and warplanes follow.

Contrary to what westoids say, and contrary to what Russian propaganda serves up, we don't care what pigs think with their pig brains.
RIA: "BREAKING: HOHOLS ARE PANICKING"
Russians: "we don't care, fucking nuke them already"

Should rename it "just two more weeks" parade
https://youtube.com/watch?v=HBdf4Dk_LqYSo…. We are supposed to ignore Russia parading captured Americans and German tanks during the same parades?

Its funny because the meme was a predictive spoiler made when Abrams for Ukraine were first announced by mainstream outlets.

Also I'm pretty sure ISIS captured & destroyed more off the Iraqi Army anyways...

Pretty big cope since we were promised M1s steamrolling back the entire Russian offensive.

It's even extra dumb because it implies the Russians lost all those tanks for a single M1 when in reality the M1 probably did next to nothing.

Military parades are a dumb waste of money and are only intended to intimidate citizens into submission to the state.

I can't think of many things more boring than watching columns of troops march past and few more annoying than military marches blaring for hours on end.
Well in America we fly nuclear stealth bombers over football stadiums

dont you americans have to do a school schooting or suck jew cock or something over there?

Nope. We've got nothing better to do than watch a bunch of drunken Slav niggers "reactivate" more and more museum pieces and draft a bunch of murderers, rapists, and cannibals to get themselves fed to the meat grinder, all to keep Putin's losing vanity project going. And it is fucking hilarious.

One of the cringes with this stuff is just knowing the kind of people who will excitedly be wanting to tell everyone they can about how Russia is so bad they only had one tank at the parade.

Are they though?

Pretty sure Mark Felton would do a 2 hour special if he could find evidence of actual WWII vintage tanks being used in this war. Last I checked, the best he could find was one that got pushed off it's plinth in a town to to be (very optimistically) used as a decoy.

It's the usual "ohmagurd they're refinishing tanks from the 60s" or some shit because it turns out having more guns on the field regardless of when it's from is quite useful, especially when the other guys have jack shit.

This is apparently how spoiled shooting farmers in the desert with expensive equipment for the past 20-30 years has made the US. And then we lose anyways.

Until those thundering columns of tanks and troops are turned on you by the next FDR. Military parades like that serve no purpose but as an intimidation tactic for authoritarians, that's why they aren't used in countries that don't need to intimidate their citizens to keep them loyal.

I think people also greatly overestimate where the loyalty of the police and US military lie, they will overwhelmingly back the government in a civil war situation because the government writes their paychecks. And they will not hold back because of their "fellow Americans", they certainly didn't during the Civil War itself.

All those guns at home won't do a damn thing when the Air Force decides to wipe the entire town off the map with an airstrike. This is why the other piece of the right to bear arms was to easily raise a militia, not maintain an enormous standing army.
Lotta good the Air Force did in Vietnam and Afghanistan amirite?

They did, we weren't in danger of losing in either conflict. Also did an excellent job in Iraq, twice.

Are they though?
Yes, the vast majority of it has been drawdowns of stockpiles to replace losses because production can't keep up.

Keep in mind the "Soviet era" includes everything used by the Soviet military up to 1991. The USSR also had a defense budget and military on par with the United States before it collapsed while Russia today spends about 20-25% of that in nominal terms. As a result there are enormous stockpiles of surplus Soviet equipment.
