Yeah, telling a cow that you're going to dox them is the easiest way to lose potential content, because if they're even relatively smart, they're going to delete anything and everything that they dont want you to see/know about them.
 
While I don't think Doxxing should be outlawed here there needs to be some regulation. Not just "dont tell people you're doxxing them" but maybe level it to, you have to contact the staff before releasing one. There have probably been times where a Doxx was uncalled for or unnecessary, and I'm sure there are plenty of members here who abuse the ability to contact a lolcow with literal mental issues.

It goes without saying but making a paranoid person more paranoid is only going to lead to something unfortunate, and eventually it could end up with really bad repercussions for this site or a member of this site.

I have a schizophrenic relative that bit the ear off a guy who got in his face for calling him a freak, you antagonize a fucking nut you get what's coming to you.

Nah. It's all of our faults. I guess I get carried away with shit sometimes. Sorry for blasting shit all over that forum and dragging more people into it. It was fun at first but it's become more work at this point. I'm done.

Except there is... They can delete everything, spread misinformation, hide personal details, etc. Shit they should have been doing in the first place. Shit they would not be doing if you didn't give them a very polite heads up.

When you go out of your way to let people know you're "after them", you not only look like a sadistic tard that's trying to exact revenge for petty perceived wrongs, you are shooting yourself in the foot. The people everyone recognizes as the good doxxxxxers are literally just googling shit and using publicly available whitepage websites to compile information off known knowns. They're good because they do it in private, and do pessimistic revaluations of their own information. The moment that person you're compiling information on has it known-known that people are doing that, they will attempt to mitigate damage, and they will frequently achieve this if you warned them early enough in advance.

So this is a PSA. I don't know if I want to make it into a rule. In general, stop being a tard, stop trying to lord yourselves over lolcows (because you're a also a tard), and stop posting bad dox that makes the site look like a joke. I'm temped to give some people clerical powers only to delete posts containing embarrassing and misleading information.

Jesus fucking christ, whoever's being retarded, if you're gonna tell the person "lol I doxxed you" at least fucking do it after, and have a good reason. A really good reason.
