Playing the real weird prog at work, especially when everyone else barely ventures outside of rap, is the funniest thing ever. The game is to figure out how to progressively ramp up the unconventional, without any sustained harsh tones or overtly offensive lyrics, before getting asked to cut it out.
All the other coworkers there were stereotypical normies who only listened to "coworker music" (shitty mainstream pop/rap) so seeing them get filtered by prog was hilarious. The "whale sounds" in Echoes consistently got the best reactions, always a bewildered look followed with "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT". 70s King Crimson likewise got similar results, 80s KC I could get away with playing no problem. I never got to experiment much with weirder stuff because they would usually stop me from playing anything because they knew what was coming.

@Korpon I got pulled to fill in with a different team where one guy just played the same two dozen Eminem songs on loop all day. I had worked with the others and had good rapport with them, so they handed me the keys to the speaker. I gave fair warning: I play weird music to be annoying, I think it’s funny; they told me they just needed to listen to something different. We made it as far as the titular track from Song for America when Eminem guy just wordlessly shut the speaker off. It was the fastest “win” I ever got.

Absolutely beautiful, if they insist on listening to low IQ mongoloid music and subjecting everyone else to it on a daily basis, they can at least suffah through genuine art for once in their life. Getting filtered by Kansas as well is extra funny, literally one of the best American bands.

Thread tax: absolutely underrated track/album, great guitar playing.
