I think the nastier ones relied on astroturfed "acceptance" to be degenerate in public, after that faded, they got scared...i also remember previous pride events near me had a heavy police presence including ar15s, so people were less likely to fuck with them.

This is not Nostra Aetate but it is from another one Gregory Baum’s works called “Rethinking the Church's Mission after Auschwitz”. This man quite literally viewed Christian Evangelism towards the Jewish people as some sort of continuation of the Holocaust. In his theological lens a Christian sharing the Gospel with a Jew is basically the same as being a Nazi.
A house near where I live is flying a “Straight Ally” flag outside which somehow manages to be even more virtue-signally than just the standard vomit progress flag. There’s literally no need for it besides bragging to random people and cars that pass your house about how virtuous you personally are about fags and troons.
