Predator 5 announced - Why can't they leave this fucking franchise just rest in peace?

AVP was probably the best one, but that's not saying much. Everyone cooms over the first movie and Arnold's big sweaty biceps but it was a pretty generic jungle action movie.

Amber Midthunder is cute, but I expect them to dyke her up by chopping off her hair and making her lift and diet away her curves. It'll probably be PG-13 too.

I like P2 over Predators solely due to Danny Glover and Gary Busey. The city setting was also cool and I dug the whole "Predators have been coming here for centuries" lore when they gave Danny Glover's character that flintlock pistol.

It was also just a total product of the time and felt like a live action comic book to me, so I can see how others might not like it as much. I still enjoyed Predators a lot though as just a dumb action romp as another excuse to show the Yautja kicking ass. Didn't really like how fat and old Lawrence Fishbourne looked in it but that's gonna happen to us all eventually. The less said about the next sequel though, the better.
That's actually a great way of putting the feel of not just P2, but a lot of other 80's and some 90's action films. It also helps that they were made before the time when comic books had crawled up their own ass, to boot.

... yanno, one could easily say that about modern films, too: they're just live action comic books, with the caveat that the comic books of their time are gobsmackingly awful, hypocritically trite, self-righteous screeds more akin to Chick Tracts than genuine entertainment that's the product of heartfelt investment in the story one is trying to tell.

iirc it took at least a few queues from the first comic mini-series that Dark Horse did with the IP

Ha, motherfuckers, bet you forgot about this turd in the making, but there was news. Last month, actually, but here goes:

The movie is going to be released on Streaming platforms only (so Disney+, maybe Hulu).
Here's a promo-pic:

Also, based on this image, it's not called "Predator 5" or "Predator whatever", it's just going to be called "Prey".

Fuck me, this is a stillbirth and everyone knows it, even the makers.
They have no confidence, so they shit it into the closed blackbox of their own streaming service, so they don't have to admit how much money they lost on it... and it seems to be actively ashamed of being part of the Predator series if they don't even call it "Predator: Prey" but rather just "Prey".

Oh I see. Native girl is so badass that she's the predator this time around and he's the...Prey.

Going by that picture, if this ends in any way that isn't her bloody spine hung on a wire to dry, it'd just be faster to just set the money on fire.

The last movie was bad, cause it had shit humor, a shit script, was a complete mess and the guy who made it thought that "If I add a biggerer Predator, that'd be so KEEEEEEEEEWL!".

This one will beat you over the head with WHITE MAN BAD (they will find a way), it'll beat you over the head with UGH TOXIC MASCULINITY and it will beat you over the head with YAS KWEEN SLAY!

The first one was just badly made, this new one will be badly made -and- piss you off with The Message

They haven't done an transsexual Predator yet. They probably petitioned to have a Predator done as a trans lizard and threatened to burn down Hollywood if they didn't depict aliens as having human problems.

Predatory blokes with a botched neo-vag for a face? Weren't they always a trans allegory?
