Catholic here - my opinion is that while Vatican II did implement some pretty stupid stuff into the Church, vernacular Mass is a good thing because:
1) God can be praised in any language; before Vatican II the Church allowed Croatian Catholics to offer Mass in Church Slavonic, so why should English be any different?
2) it's a lot easier for the average Christian to understand a Mass offered in his language than it is for him to understand one in Latin.
If she starts complaining about Vatican II being super evil; ask her how she feels about Vatican II being the first and only Catholic council to condemn slavery. That's right, it was a heresy until 1963 to believe that slavery was wrong.
