The pose for this character (which I inked and colored in Clip Studio Paint Pro) owes inspiration to an ink drawing I’ve seen from the late artist John Flanagan, who specialized in illustrating adventure stories. For some reason Flanagan’s art reminded me of the Queen of Sheba from the Bible, so that’s what I’ve named this chick.
Modern historians generally identify the Biblical Sheba with the Sabaean civilization in southern Arabia, but for this I was working with the old idea of a connection between Sheba and the Great Zimbabwe civilization. The bird statue behind the Queen is based off soapstone sculptures recovered from the Zimbabwean ruins, and its likeness graces the modern Zimbabwean flag.

A Kushite army, armed with flaming projectiles, lays siege to the city of Rome. In this timeline, it was not barbarians from the North that fell Rome, but a rival empire from the South.
I did all the inking as well as the coloring in Clip Studio Paint. It was a laborious effort since I don't have a tablet at the moment and had to use my mouse, so I'm relieved to have gotten this accomplished.
This is my vision of the Sekhet-Aaru, or the Field of Reeds from ancient Egyptian mythology. This was the abode of their afterlife god Ausar (Osiris), his bae Aset (Isis), and the spirits of the dead who enjoyed an afterlife mirroring that of the mortal realm. You could think of it as the Egyptian equivalent to the Christian Heaven.
I based the environment's look off the as-Sudd, a vast papyrus wetland in South Sudan where people sometimes build houses atop these floating masses of vegetation. That gave me the idea of the Egyptian-style palace floating atop an "island" of reeds as shown here. As for the mountain in the background, it is based off Jebel Barkal in Sudan which was sacred to both Egyptians and Kushites.
An African assassin, whose people have been devastated by greedy British imperialism, inflicts revenge upon Queen Victoria herself. Think of this as, well, the Victorian-era equivalent of "Inglourious Basterds", but with all the inane banter cut out.
Normally I feel pretty bad about violence against older people, but considering all the ravenous imperialism (and child labor) that Victoria let happen under her watch, I'd make an exception for her. I always wanted to see her portrayed as a bad guy who deserved her comeuppance anyway.

@TheycallmeJudgmentBoy that's really cool! I'm into the pose - your work is always so dynamic I feel like things are leaping at me or bending or gesturing every time I see your work. I'm not too sure about the colors though - I feel like the blues might be a bit too saturated?
I'm also not sure how to interpret the light blue material at her hips - because the lineart still shows her hips, I don't really identify it as a solid material and maybe more gauzy? If that were the case any light through the back of the image would probably mean the material over her hip would be slightly darker. I'm not an expert nor in any way trained but that was something I identified. I might also suggest instead of coloring onto a white background (I'm guilty of it too) using a grey or other toned color, it just stops you from losing any highlights you put in the piece as they compete with the white space. Also sorry if this is stuff you already know.
I have no art to show today as all I have been doing is thumbnailing and reference collecting for some commissions so it's all dull work.

Don't worry, this is only the base coloring phase. I have a plan. Not a great one, but a plan :x

I’ve kind of been playing a lot of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness and hatched a Krabby egg. I love my krabby child.
I'm a little excited for the Final FantasyVII remake:

Seriously impressed by everything I've seen in this thread, kinda ashamed to share this now.
Here's my stuff. Started actually doing the Tales from Tville series which are true stories about the lolcows in my life growing up. I know my art sucks, but I have fun doing it, and maybe someone will get a few laughs out of it.
