Given that there's now not a single age verification tool which hasn't already been defeated through the same token sharing methods used to get premium porn for free, I have my doubts.

Honestly, the best solution is to ship endpoints and routers in a secure-by-default configuration where commonly unwanted services, websites, features and protocols get blocked unless explicitly enabled per-device. SafeSearch (algorithmic hiding of potentially unwanted content) and Restricted Mode (no unvetted user-submitted content created by strangers) are both also easily enforceable this way.

This still isn't perfect, but it respects the privacy and freedom of purchasers and bill payers while greatly reducing any risks (whether real or perceived) of people encountering potential harmful content.

Folks like us can use the Internet as intended, while your common idiot gets a slightly less restricted version of early AOL designed for all their dumb entertainment needs.

You can then establish some means of communication which prevents that 3rd party from knowing what it is you are accessing and any website from knowing any details about you beyond age > 18.

For example, I visit www.titties.com and have to verify age. The server for www.titties.com then generates a public/private key pair and makes a oblivious http request (look it up if you've not heard of it) to the 3rd party with an age verification request and the public key along with a uuid, then directs the user to the 3rd party with the uuid signed with the private key. Upon accessing the 3rd party with age verified, the request ID signature is verified via the public key previously provided, and on subsequent ohttp request for the same request ID www.titties.com would be able to verify age and age only.

I'm just making the above up and you could poke holes in it but ultimately it's quite easy to implement a safe system where reasonable privacy is respected.

The biggest issues with it from the perspective of a site like KiwiFarms is that ohttp relies on relay servers which could and probably would be used to deplatform KF regardless of legality.

As for how the third party would verify age I can think of several acceptable privacy respecting methods. If you aren't comfortable with sending government issued ID online, for example, you could have a process where it is checked in person and a token is generated which can then be added to an account with the third party; bit of legwork but it would be a one-time deal.
