@Strelok do you want access to the diplomacy pms so you can laugh maniacally at all the people getting screwed or would you rather guess and just handle orders?

We should make all the PMs public after the conclusion of the game though. It would probably be good for a laugh.

Yeah, because of that I'll ask, despite having no way of enforcing it, to please date your messages by phase so when we dump at the end we can understand the context.
Are you referring to phase-linking our unit orders to you, or also doing that for our negotiations/threats to other countries?

The first is a hard rule to prevent the wrong orders being submitted, the second is just a courtesy if we decide to do a message dump.
Both are valid ideas. I'll make sure to at least mark diplomacy-phase ends in my diplomatic channels.

I'm still missing two non-aggression treaties. You know who you are! I want them on my desk before the end of the turn, otherwise a war you shall have, mes amis!

Be careful who you rile up, we all know the french have a history of militarydefeats victories. This rabid dog may be dangerous if you poke him, ambassadors.

We're currently sitting at 5/7 orders submitted.

With things moving really smoothly, 5/7 submitted, how would you all feel about having phases be 3 days instead of 4 after the first one?

Three could probably work. I think the only reason the others haven't submitted is due to IRL illness or something?

For those of you viewing and wondering what some good resources are to play for yourself, there are three main options at the moment for pubby plays.

The first two are PlayDiplomacy and WebDiplomacy. Both are HTML based and have ranking systems. PlayDiplomacy's ranking system is a modified ELO, while Web's is instead a sort of gambling system where you bet your points. The main differences are in the orders and messaging system, with PlayDip being Point & Click while WebDip is dropdown boxes for each army. PlayDiplomacy features essentially a fully fledged in match email client, with separate subjects and threads being possible with the ability to include multiple people, while WebDip's is essentially just a non realtime instant message system.

Forum wise, WebDip is a mess because they want to be able to display a "live" forum feature ont eh main page. The end result is a forum where every single thread is dumped in order of bump in a giant list. PlayDip meanwhile uses phpBB. Because of this their actuall community is easier to navigate, and it's much easier to get things like discussions of strategies, advice, and new player mentor games because it's an actual forum, not a mix of the worst parts of a forum and an imageboard.

Lastly variants. WebDip and PlayDip both have variants different from the standard game, such as the 10 player Fall of the American Empire variant. WebDip has more of them than PlayDiplomacy, and is entirely free while PlayDip puts them behind a donation wall because of their increased hosting costs (It used to be $1 a year would be enough, but that unfortunately got upped because they had to hire a professional coder for a planned complete client rewrite). This has a sort of knock on effect that means if you prefer pure diplomacy without extra rules, you are infact best served at PlayDiplomacy as the average user cannot create modified games, and thus there are more pure games.

The third variant only applies to Android users. Droidippy is a android version of Diplomacy, that only has the standard variant, all games anonymous (you only know your opponents by country during the game), but features a easy to use interface and push notifications for messaging meaning that you can play on a much shorter phase length (24 hours) without negotiations breaking down due to not logging in. It should be noted that unlike the other clients, there is no games list to join, merely joing a que for your reliability tier. This means your first game or two will likely have 3 nations drop immediately until you get to the better reliability tiers.

And we have all turns in and processed. I've listed the orders below in both picture and text format, as well as the state of the board in 1901.

Now before we proceede a reminder. You only keep the supply centers you occupy in the fall, so those of you who are currently sitting in a shiny new SC, remember you must still have a unit there (though not necessarily the same one) after this turn to gain them.

Anyway here are the orders, in both the map form and text format.

Which leads us to the current map situation.

All around some interesting moves, and we can already seem some conflicts brewing I'd wager. A reminder the next phases is going to be shorter, and we are now on 3 day phases to keep things moving at a moderate pace, as well as keep diplomatic relations somewhat tense (remember IRL you would only have 15 min to talk to everyone you needed to, so you are supposed to feel a bit pressured)

@Strelok would the next phase count as Summer 1902? Checking for recording purposes.

There's 3 seasons. Spring, Fall and Winter. Spring and Fall represent 6 months of military campainging each, while winter is when armies are raised and disbanded.

That said, the current phase, deadline, and gameboard will always be posted in the OP.

Eerrm just my logical brain doing it's thing here- if the previous phase was Spring 1901, and now it's Fall..wouldn't that be Fall 1902? the OP says it's 1901 still >.> Or is Diplomacy just going on some weird logic.

Wrong hemisphere. Spring is Aprilish and Fall is Octoberish in the north.
Ahhh. You northerners and your weird-ass seasons.. >.> Right, that clears that up. Onwards, to diplomatic negotiations.
