Plenty of people complain about their work, but it just seems that she complains about everything (parents, romances, japan, weight, etc.) that makes her attitude grinding towards others. I don't think you would find her complaints about her job so irritating if she didn't have an off switch about her other going-ons.

I dunno, I think someone demanding "respect" from their manager just because they happen to be older than the manager (which is proof of her incompetence, not that she's more experienced like she seems to think) would be annoying regardless of what else she talked about. That's one hell of a shitty attitude.

She had to be scribbling a lot of notes to get scolded for it. If I come up with something at work, whether it be like a reminder to buy something, a really good idea for my writing or etc I do jot it down on a spare piece of paper but it happens rarely so it's not as if it interferes with my work.

My department manager is younger than I am though not by much. She doesn't boss me around. She does tell me to do things that need to be done, but y'know, it's her job to make sure our department is selling what it needs to and that we have such items on hand, and I obey her commands and do it because it's my job. I've never felt like she was unfairly lording her position over me or anything like that and we get along nicely. She knows I am a competent worker and treats me as such, and I am given a lot of leeway in how I do my tasks. So for Pixy to complain that she should be treated with more respect just because she is older is just... gah. Now, some managers are real shitheads, but I'm inclined to believe that in this case it's Pixy.

Sad thing is, she probably did okay. The humanities can be pretty forgiving. I just get the feeling that PT put the bare minimum effort into studying or actually learning about her major and just lazed her way through school. Which is sad.

The Japanese don't have contractions in the same way that we do. At most they drop a syllable to make a statement less formal. They don't use apostrophes for it. (Example: Suimasen instead of sumimasen.)
