What are some good places to find older movies? In the mood for some classic Disney animation (doesnt have to be upscaled) and some good ol' Van Damme or Seagal. 1337x's been good so far but it's missing some of the stuff i'm craving.
If you're straight torrenting older stuff then BTDig, Archive.org and setting up Prowlarr will get you a very long way. In Prowlarr you want to set up at minimum:
ShowRSS
ThePirateBay
LimeTorrents
Knaben

BTDig gets basically everything but lacks the raw usefulness of knowing current seeds/leech counts. A decent Prowlarr install will returns very useful results and if none of those play out then Archive.org can be surprisingly fruitful sometimes.

Lots of Van Damme and Segal stuff for free on Tubi. Just use yt-dlp and you can download it.

Rarelust. It has TONS of direct to video action movies, horror, porn, you name it. A lot of really old stuff from 1920-1980. Downloads are extremely slow (about 80kB/s), but resumable, so you'll download everything if you're patient.

when downloading from anna's archive (currently .pk) the download always fails at around 90-95% and I can't get it to recover. this is using the free, slow waitlisted servers via VPN. the fuck am I doing wrong?
Late reply but I was having the same problem. I switched to just copying the dl link and using wget to dl it. Worked every time but I could see how it would get cut off and wget would recover and finish it. (yes I am being autistic) 🧩

Rutracker or Internet archive if you want the fun cheesey shit. CG is the king but you wouldn't be asking if you were a member lol

I've been using .gl lately and JDownloader. Once you establish a connection, JD will tell you if the download is resumable or not. You might want to manually add the URLs to Linkgrabber if they don't get picked up.

The problems I was having were with the download servers of a specific pdf, in the end. During the same session, I was able to download a couple other pdfs without any problems. And finally, I got the pdf I wanted after a couple trys.
The thing with resuming the download after it fails, I used to be able to do that before, but now firefox doesn't seem to recognize the .part file anymore.
I dunno, I don't use annas-archive often so I haven't really experimented with it much.

Good advice on using wget or JD, though, I'll keep it in mind for next time.

Nah, it's got DRM unless you have something that can undo it. Same with a lot of the free films on YouTube.
Weird. I downloaded Gator and White Lightning off there last year. I went back and tried to download them again, and sure enough, still worked. Picked Independance Day at random off the front page and got the DRM message. It must vary from movie to movie.
How does that matter to the viewer?
Well, I guess it doesn't if you just want to watch the movie, but it is the piracy thread, so we were talking about how to download it.

Browsers only show the bare basics about the file you're downloading. JD shows a lot of useful messages like errors and lets you know if you're getting rate limited.

Don't forget to debloat JDownloader2 to get rid of all the ads for "premium" file hosting access and other bullshit. Makes things snappier too (because of course the ads slow things down).

Does anyone have a source for sheet music? I've been looking every now and then for nearly two decades and somehow no one cares about sharing sheet music. The best I could find is MuseScore but I was late to the party. A while back when that Tantacrul guy bought it they locked copyrighted arrangements behind a paywall. There was a weird Chinese-made downloader from Github that may have worked at one point in time but no matter what I'd get nothing. So MuseScore seems dead. Even IMSLP, consisting of public domain works, makes you jump through a trillion hoops to prove you're not a bot. I'm begging you Kiwi bros, can any of you find me a decent source of sheet music to pirate? I'm specifically looking for jazz band score arrangements and any arrangements of pop and video game music. Those books by Hal Leonard or whatever are always just shitty piano parts and I was hoping there was some secret source of arrangements made for full bands/orchestras.

Username/Post combo checks out.

No, I don't have a specific source but I would default to annas-archive these days for anything booky related. It isn't perfect and starts to get frustrating the deeper and more specific you go but generally that's my go-to these days.

I never thought to try Anna's for sheet music publications, thanks for the suggestion. I haven't met a musician who didn't torrent or use soulseek or burn CDs for the friends or make tapes in the old days. The Real Book came from people transcribing standards by ear and sharing with buddies and band mates until it became legal. What happened to that? There has to be some secret underground private tracker that only the initiated disciples of Euterpes are allowed access.

I just searched three relevant private sites I'm a member of that are quite music focused. None of them had much sheet music. The recommendations I found were Myanonamouse and Audionews. I am not a member of either so I cannot vouch, but perhaps this is a place to start your quest.
