The idea of preventing the same type of shit that happened to that Steven Universe fanperson seemed good at first.

But this is essentially allowing people to do stupid shit and not own up to it. This makes it so much easier for Tumblirinas to cover their tracks when they sperg as well.

The shitstorm when it gets raided is going to be fantabulous. I really want to see this system getting abused and exploited.

Are they following known triggerable snowflakes on purpose to market the website? Maybe Dobbo will make an account.
 
You realize that if they get this off the ground, we're going to have Kiwi operatives in deep cover on that site in a matter of hours.

Not necessarily. As long as these people are willing to pay the programmer a decent wage, then there's no issue. If they're serious, they'll have to take out loans in order to pay their team. I just hope they don't tell their coder he can get paid in some sort of spacebux (like "you can be a mod when we're live as payment" or something).

That aside, it did seem like a nice idea, I have to agree. I've always wished I could have certain tumblr tags show up on my dash without following a specific blog. But then, it became apparent why it's called Pillowfort. Not too shocking, I guess, but still disappointing.
 
It's a honeypot, whether on purpose or not. It will encourage raids by deliberately attracting an easily triggered population, like concentrated tumblr. Then they'll have to change shit to try to prevent whatever made the raids possible. This will make the site less usable. This will anger the autists by changing their hugbox. Everyone will end up hilariously miserable.
 
This sounds like the same idea that some Steven Universe fans had before all this recent drama, keep all the "bad people" out and make it a safe space. We all know how that turned out.
 
Ah yes, I've seen this. The idea behind it isn't bad, especially since Tumblr has turned into a massive shithole...but man, is it obvious that this whole thing is going to fail, if it even launches.
 
It's not even in beta and I can tell that there will be massive security flaws. The GNAA is going to have fun.
 
A noble endeavor that will ultimately fail depending on how much they decide to cater to the thousands of overly entitled Tumblrinas who want to claim that they're Sherlock, Handsome Jack, and Markiplier or whatever other famous headmates are currently trending on Tumblr nowadays.

Acknowledging these people is ultimately a death knell for most websites right from the get go since you're personally advocating to defend the rights of the most excessively weird and cringey of claims. Expecting the entire Internet to not laugh at someone yelling at people to use xim/xir/xerself or whatever the fuck is probably more optimistic than expecting the cure to cancer to be under someone's bed. The question now stands on whether this will ever get off the ground or if the inevitable "Tumblr Lite: Now With More Catering" will eventually get smashed underneath the heel of Tumblr. I mean, we are asking the widdle Tumblrinas to leave their established hugboxes and venture into unknown territory, even if said territory already gave them diplomatic immunity. I mean, they actually have to sort of build up their fanbase again. Such a thing would require... *gasp* effort.
 
Ah, I remember seeing this float across my blog from somebody I follow.

It seems like it could be an alright idea if executed properly, but based on how they want the site to be a "safe space" for everyone in it, I feel like it's something aimed at children. Like how parents put their kids on those heavily censored and monitored kiddie sites to let them mess about in mild entertainment until they get bored and find something of more interest to do.

Except instead of children it's aimed at child-minded think-skinned morons who screech at anything even remotely unpleasant to them.

Banning hate blogs, again, sounds good in concept, but figuring out what constitutes as actual hate and not just an opinion would break that system in a heart-beat. Everyone takes such high offense to things over the internet that an opposing opinion could be seen as hate. I think that system would be abused into the floor by easily-triggered SJWs who cry about every little insignificant issue in their lives.

It'll flop. Either before it even gets off the ground, or it's gonna crash and burn after being open for a while, be it from system abuse, raids, spergs, or people getting butthurt about not being able to personalize their virtual hugbox exactly to their liking and stomping off to abandon it like a spoiled brat.

The lack of professionalism from whomever is answering asks is also quite the red flag. This really can't end well.
 
Nowhere is safe on the internet, giving a site a cutesy name and trying to make it safe for everybody on the internet is like covering yourself in gasoline and running into a bonfire while yelling 'Don't worry, im not flammable!'
 
I'm going to hang a "no faggots" sign on my pillow fort. Come at me gaybros.
