My theory it was a combination of laziness and fear. Da Ralphabrain operates by ignoring inconvenient problems, and that they'll just stop existing if he doesn't deal with them. TBF, that's partially true in this circumstance. Sandra did stop existing.
I have no idea how this works, but is it plausible for Ralph to still be on the hook for child support even if he severs all parental rights? There are avenues for both answers make sense in my mind, but I'm sure it'd hinge on the court agreeing just as much as Faith.

She’s off her rocker, thinks she is receiving covert messages in the media, and thought the indictment against her cousin was the illuminati “sending her a message.” Can’t think of any other reason to lie and run defense otherwise than fear of being connected/linked to someone like that.
