I want to use Photoshop in a pinch but don't wish to subscribe to the service.

What programs exist that are like Photoshop but aren't Photoshop?

Krita is all the rage but I never learned it, I disabled myself by learning GIMP and now everything else feels alien to me.

You can also try Photopea, it's a browser based Photoshop clone. There are many browser based photo editors but that one's my favorite.

I use a photoshop (and lightroom) rip from nsaneforum but gimp is good too. If youre familiar with photoshop theres gimp plugins to make the interface and keystrokes similar.

I use GIMP but there's a lot I don't know how to do (and am too lazy to learn), not everything works totally the same as PS. Mostly I use it to color comic pages so it works fine for most of what I do. I also have pirate photoshop (CS2) but in my experience it shits the bed on you constantly so I don't recommend that too much!

I haven't used Clip Studio Paint but a lot of people rave about it.

I got CSP a few years ago and haven't looked back since.
Corel painter is ok but only if you're interested in painting.

Photoshop is preobably the best program available just for photo editing and filters, but if that's all you're going to use it for then there's nothing wrong with torrenting it.

What I really want to see is a post-processing application that does all of the filter-work photoshop does but without any of photoshop's bloat.

Spambots keep trying to bump this thread with ad placement links but since I'm reminded it exists let me shill something called Krita which appears to be a free Photoshop. It imports PSD files pretty accurately.

Krita is fucking good. It's the only PS alternative I know of that supports adjustment layers with paintable masks, and those are pretty fucking crucial imo. I also enjoy the autistic selection of color blending modes.

If you are wanting phoshop for digital drawing I would highly recommend Krita. While quite heavy, it's free, very versatile and build for drawing rather than a photo editing software that also draws.

Since I don't have pay for it I currently have photoshop too but I still mainly use Krita because I find the experience of drawing and especially coloring so much smoother. The pain bucket options already make so much easier to work fast and I really love layer functions when coloring. My current favorite drawing program.
