I think hating yourself is just an excuse for not doing anything to improve your lot in life. Rather than say "These are my faults - how can I overcome them?", people just say "I hate myself, everything is wrong with me, it's all hopeless." Oddly enough, when you ask these people what they hate about themselves, it's usually about a million miles from the actual problem. Nine times out of ten it'll be some poisonous version of the humblebrag, like "I trust people too easily," or "I let people take advantage of my kindness!"

Then they start wearing a dress and claiming to be trans.

I am pretty numb to self-hate, weirdly enough.

That is to say I feel enough for a self-depreciating sense of humor and that's about it.

I think most (but not all) people who think they hate themselves are just in state of self pity and have a passive/aggressive need for attention. I get that, I really do, but it is not true self-hate.

And, Love is the Drug baby.

I'm pretty sure most of it is neuroticism, and people aren't quite aware, or even sure what to make of it.
They confuse their shortcomings and insecurities in handling things with self-hate, when really, it's pretty much at its worst just a profound frustration.

I used to be an angsty, self-loathing teen, but later I did manage to learn not to take myself so seriously and focus on my tasks and what I want to do instead.
