Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday abruptly canceled a planned appearance at a New Hampshire opioid event to remain in Washington, D.C.

Pence's office said in a statement that the change of plans is "no cause for alarm."

The vice president never left the nation's capital for the Granite State, officials said, contrary to reports that Air Force Two was called back in midair so that he could attend to an unspecified emergency.

"Something came up that required the @VP to remain in Washington, DC. It's no cause for alarm. He looks forward to rescheduling the trip to New Hampshire very soon," Pence spokeswoman Alyssa Farah tweeted.

White House spokesman Hogan Gidley delivered a nearly identical statement, telling The Hill that "something that came up that required the VP to remain in D.C. There is no cause for concern."

Farah in a follow-up tweet said Pence never left Washington, adding that there was no "emergency callback."

A senior administration official said that Pence's decision to stay in Washington "has nothing to do with the health of the vice president or the president."

It is unusual for a president or vice president to suddenly shift their travel plans and the announcement set off speculation in Washington about the reasons for the change.

Pence was scheduled to speak with former patients of the Granite Recovery Center in Salem, N.H., and deliver formal remarks on the opioid crisis before returning to the nation's capital in the late afternoon.

If I was going to hazard a guess, I'd say that it had something to do with USAF FEST 00-9001 (Foreign Emergency Support Team) departing earlier in the day. The "FEST" is an on-call short-notice team poised to respond to terrorist incidents, and just a short while before all this there was an "earthquake" reported in Iran just beneath the surface. Putin has also canceled his events for the day to stay at the Kremlin and called for an urgent meeting with the defense minister. The EU Commission security council also called for an emergency meeting.

Last that I heard, there were F-22 Raptor fighter jets heading into position over the Persian Gulf. No idea what exactly seems to be happening just yet, at least nothing that isn't just pitching darts at a board, but it's pretty clear that the story isn't centered around Pence, but naturally this is the MSM we're talking about, so of course they're going to fuck it up and not ask any useful questions.

Every kook I know (and I know a lot of them) thinks Israel sank a US nuclear submarine.

Well I can't say for certain that they have, this is just how I throw darts at a board. We already know that the Iranians basically never dismantled their nuclear program in the first place and have already exceeded their stockpile, so when I see a bunch of this other crap happening all at the same time, I can't help but draw similarities between what currently looks like it's happening, and what previously happened in North Korea.

North Korea had a truckload of its nuclear researchers and a pretty significant portion of its high-ranking military officials at Punggye-ri when it collapsed, and that collapse happened right around the same time that a 6.3 was recorded in the area. But it's like I always tell people: I'm probably a crazy person, so don't tailgate me too closely while I'm speculating or you're bound to eat bumper.

All I mean is you can't just pass off an explosion as an earthquake. This Iran earthquake happened at a depth of 10km below the surface, which is too deep to be a nuclear test. The deepest hole ever dug by humans is like 12km deep. Besides, an analyst could look at the data and see if it was a nuclear detonation or not just by the waveforms, and that shit is publicly available
