Path of Exile

It makes sense to me how it might work out: Poe2 Alva meets the Poe2 Exile, discovers her bullshit Vaal time travel powers, at some later time after Poe2 goes back in time and meets the Poe1 Exile, then gets lost in the Atlas / joins the reformed Order of the Djinn and disappears from history before she can interact with her younger self, no loop, just some temporal overlap.
whatever hypothetical scenario you imagine, it's still unwritten by GGG. My point still stands that current poe2 Alva is still older Alva because we are still in the same timeline.

My point still stands that current poe2 Alva is still older Alva because we are still in the same timeline
POE 1 Alva opens incursions by slicing her hand, letting her Vaal blood activate the Vaal-made portals from a tome on Vaal blood thaumaturgy she found in the past. POE 2 Alva only found out about her blood activating Vaal structures in Act 3 and then she mentions stealing a tome on Vaal blood magic after we enter the temple. Therefore
We can only hope that in PoE3 Alva dies in all the timelines and games, for all eternity.
Even though the Vaal are supposed to be Aztec analogues, Alva instead leans into being a Jew.

Alva in POE 1 is older and can already time travel, and has, to her past, which is POE 1 present.

POE 2 Alva learns of her abilities and isn't yet jaded and murderous, she will become POE1 Alva after the events of this game from her perspective

i am not sure why you guys are so adamant in making up stories which has no basis at all when poe1 events have already happened. And Alva in poe1 doesn't know doryani nor the existence and truth of temple of Atzoatl, which she only finally encounters in poe2.

.....

Perhaps it is the fragility of the timeline that has made Atzoatl such a staple of Vaal mythology. Some say it was a place of darkness, home to the most vile of sacrifices. But there are others who claim the temple to be the birthplace of technology - even our own is said to pale in comparison to what was being forged within those walls.

Scholars today have even suggested that it was the treasure house for Queen Atziri herself. Whichever is true, it was bound to have been fiercely protected by fanatics and royalty alike. And if something's worth protecting, well, then it's worth bloody taking!

I believe the secret of its location lies in the Vaal City which, until very recently, was submerged and completely unreachable. But with all that's going on, the city has risen from the depths, and... well, it's still completely unreachable. It seems the only way to get even close is across the river, and the only crossing is overrun with bandits. I've a plan that could make both of us unbelievably wealthy, but... perhaps one day....

These are poe1 dialogues, in both instance she is uncertain about the Vaal temple and spoke like she has never seen it before, whereas in poe2 it would have been obvious since she is there herself with Doryani.

Until ggg made up new stories showing her time traveling exactly like you said, everything is just made up because it is already mentioned that poe2 events happened AFTER poe1 on about 20 years later.

Poe1 Alva being older Alva would be right, if the player have been stuck in the past like in 0.1, but in 0.5, it has been evident that when the cataclysm happened, they manage to travel back into the present(future).

As already mentioned, poe1 storyline isn't exactly tight knit in consistency, otherwise you could also have asked how is Tukohama still alive when we slayed him in poe1? Maybe ggg will answer that too, but as of now it remains a mystery and we shouldn't be too hung up on the details of tukohama and tying it's consistency to the entire story and timeline.

To add to the points above:
When I came across a manual of Vaal blood thaumaturgy, I knew I couldn't let it fall into their hands. And it never did.

Though that damned High Templar knew I was keeping something secret... And so, no longer welcome amongst the nobility, here I am.
The entire idea of her using her blood is through Vaal blood thaumaturgy.

She simply tried the same thaumaturgy method on poe2 temples and it worked.

I thought poe2 was set before poe1

(sorry mobile fag, so i dunno how to quote on edit)
We thought so too, because earlier iterations of Poe2 like 0.1 and 0.2 have the exile being stuck in the past after the Cataclysm, so it led to players believing that we time travelled to the past and fix it till the current timeline of poe1.

But those were placeholder stories, as of 0.5, we knew they are not stuck in the past but in the present, where events of poe1 had happened, Breach lords have merged etc.

We built Kingsmarch in Settlers which has gone core. The Kalguuran NPC's are visibly older and Gwennen has kids with Rog in the POE 2 campaign in a bustling Kingsmarch.

The Twilight Order in Arastas is a reactionary antitheist religious group that formed in rsponse to the rampage of the gods in POE 1 act 5 onwards after we beat the Beast's agent Malachi, killing it, in act 4.

Sekhema Asala mentioned how the Maraketh has took it upon themselves to be stalwarts against the Beast and its corruption after a Maraketh tribe has done so in the past...she's talking about the non-nomadic Maraketh tribe based in Highgate at POE act 4 and 9.

That's explainable because (as the lore currently stands) Atziri's temple and Atzoatl are different places:

The medallion flavor text distinguishes between Atzoatl as a "prototype" and "another seat of power" in contrast to what by process of elimination can only be the Temple of Atziri that we raid in Poe2, so Alva discovering Atzoatl could still be amazing to her whether there's time travel bullshit or not.

The temple in POE2 is Lira Vaal which makes no sense because Azala Vaal was the city that was next to the beast that Sarn was built over top of. GGG fucked up their lore

Última edición:
Look retards it's simple, you literally meet ALTERNATE Alva's! Poe1 is older but it doesn't have to be exactly the same Alva as in lived timeline as poe2 Alva, because of time travel she has diverged.

I understand the campaign isn't finished, but that abrupt shift from gathering allies to "actually the Beast woke up early you're all fucked" was hysterical.

I do wonder how far they'll pivot from this in the final release, though.
The last 2 acts have been datamined pretty hard and there's lots of spoilers in the art book the top supporters pack provided so it looks like they pivot away from that pretty hard but the circumstances of how aren't quite known yet. The warning signs of it being an incredibly gay ending are all lining up though.

people telling me this game has better story telling and wrting than D4 are fuckin retarded that's for sure, its got better presentation, art direction, loot, skill systems ect, but writing ain't fucking one of them.

Sin and Doryani are the most interesting characters, but there really isn't much to talk about with them, Sin is as static as they come and does nothing, and Doryani isn't much more than that, good VA work, good character framing, but they don't factor into the plot, which barely exists, good lore though, the layercake that is Wreaclast's world is interesting.

D4 has multiple hero's and villains actually doing things, hero's and villains actually have reasonable motivations and actions, Lilith being a pretty easy expy to Sin in this game, except she feels useful and connected to the protag and the plot by comparison.

Yeah, I'm already not liking a lot of things about the story, from sparing Tavakai and Doryani for no good reason at all to the whole time travel nonsense, it feels unnecessarily convoluted,
another thing where POE1 is better at. you get exiled, you get revenge for being exiled, you kill the beast (tbh i dont remember why ), god awoken because you killed the beast, you kill the gods, and then atlas shenanigans happen.

It's funny because the story somewhat reflects their design philosophy in POE2, at least for the skills, full of friction and complications for no reason, just like how the skills have a thousand limitations and conditions to be usable. Whereas POE1 the skills are straightforward just like how the story is straightforward.

Speaking of Doryani, does he ever stop bitching when you use him as a vendor? An NPC did this in Remnant as well, and it just made her an insufferable cunt due to the frequency.

The story is shit, it fell into all the same pitfalls Diablo 3's storyline fell into. In POE1s story we would have killed the fuck out of Doryani and that retarded incest brother and sister that end up as the endgame vendors. Chopped the head off that Maori faggot and taken the weapon back from him, why the fuck is Tukohama even still alive after we killed him and absorbed his fucking soul in Act 6?. Hiring that retard Kittencatnoodle who had a meltdown and quit twitch streaming because she couldn't stand having to pretend to like her chat to be the narrative director alongside Kane the audio guy has made the lore and its layercake (which I loved too) completely shrink down to Abyssals vs. Precusors, and what a lazy way to do it too. I'm just waiting for the first time I get called the chosen one and whatever term they decide to call us instead of ARROGANT NEPHALEM like D3. Child of destiny is such lazy storytelling and so is distilling everything down to Dark vs. LIght but LIght is actually bad in their own way (stolen from WoW and D3/4).

Thats not even scratching the surface of the other trash like girlbosses everywhere and hearing every boss yell "ENOUGH" at me whenever I phase them, lifted straight out of D3 too. Saturday Morning Cartoon bad guys that if you pay attention, we haven't killed a single one. Not Geonor (Sin), not Jamanra (Asala), not Doryani (joins us) not the Maori guy (joins you)..

The Exile waking up on the beach and taking revenge on Dominus followed by epically fucking up by deciding to kill the Beast and having to clean up their mess was such a better plotline. I'm on the side of the Twilight Order, Divinity is bad for Wraeclast but muh Abyssals are the big bad now so it all has to revolve around them.

its why I liked that they went with a different style in D4, you ain't nobody, you ain't fucking shit, you got fed some Demon blood of an important Demon, and now your wrapped up in events beyond your control or understanding, but since your character is heroic by nature, they rise to the challenge, however, by the end of D4's latest expansion, the cost for victory was everything, all the people along the way, dead, its a bit unclear, but even the weapon used to banish Mephisto is likely gone, its the most pyrrhic victory in the series, there's barely anyone left to tell the tale that anything even happened at all, your a wanderer and a loner once again, doing some side shit to help Tyrael, utterly aloof to all the bodies he's piled up to get to this point.

I enjoyed the campaign in D4 immensely. The game fell off for me after that, and I haven't touched it since season 2. I don't really care much about the lore in PoE2, but I am interested to see if we get any explanation for whoever is caught in the delirium mirror that screams "let me out" at the end of Simulacrum.
