Path of Exile

I genuinely thought you couldn't possibly get boss design worse than poe 1 where you blink and you get oneshot.

GGG surpassed my expectations by making it so if you blink you get oneshot, AND the boss spends 50% of the bossfight in an invincibility phase ontop of it.

Truly prioneers in game design.

It's so fucking annoying that ARPGs do this now. Just let the player one shot the boss if they have enough gear. No need to add bullshit health gates and invulnerability phases.
boss design is one aspect Blizz is slowly overcoming GGG in this field, Uber Mephisto is how they should make their bosses in this game.

Got a headhunter for the first time ever after saving up. Plant lich strong. Maybe I'll save up for a cat rite of passage next.

League is super fun and the endgame feels really good. There are lots of different strategies you can bounce between, but throwing in a tablet of each mechanic you like + alch and go is perfectly viable for making lots of currency.

I already quit after I got my 8 challenges and even randomly dropped a Rite of Passage. Can't be assed to do the Expedition spiderboss or farm an HH/MB. There's still no aspirational content for me to gear out my char for so there's no point for me to brain-off map or boss farm. I didn't even need 10k ES to tank bosses and do everything the endgame has to offer so far (except Expedition, you can't make me do that over and over again).

Time for me to hop onto Warframe until 3.29

"prioneers" is such a funny unintentional pun

You know those bird bosses with the flying "woosh" projectile combos? I was always trying to dodge that shit with my squishy retard and getting 1-2 shot half the time.

Turns out you just walk around it. You just casually walk and then stab the bird in its dick. I'm such a dumbdumb sillybilly goober pooper!

Still doing the "never looking up builds ever" thing, relying on my own game knowledge. Because of that my raw damage output is about five (5), but it's going to be a good day when I finally make something really work all on my own.

0.5 is good. Actually enjoying the expanded atlas league mechanics. They don't feel like sporadic out-of-place bullshit as before. More depth and purpose. Good stuff.

Ive got my monkey up to 800k in hideout and with full buffs pushing close to 2M. My crits are over 5M. Having a blast doing endgame. Taking it slow compared to others for sure. I can still take monkey to higher levels. My rings and belt are pretty garbo.

Also getting into a bit of crafting. Mostly to improve gear I buy. I made a +4 minion amulet that absolutely smacks. Probably worth 200 divs.

Just captured another monkey but it only had cold dmg not crit. I need both to beat my extra crit monkey.

The PoE1 event that they teased in the 3.29 Expansion Timeline post is "Return of the Ancestors Event"! Forum post here.
The Trial of the Ancestors (ToTA) league mechanic from 3.22 will make a return, along with Phrecia ascendancies, as well as some of the old tattoos that were removed after ToTA league - and some new ones! The new tattoos grants you a random ascendancy notable (from the normal ascendancies, not Phrecia ones).

It starts on June 25, and ends three weeks later on July 16. The event is NOT voided, meaning your character goes to standard after the event ends (and your Phrecia ascendancy will be transformed to a normal ascendancy). There's a free mystery box if you finish the campaign :).

I don't know, I liked playing ToTA when it was the current league mechanic, but that's probably mostly because I had a specialized character that trivialized ToTA. I also think 3.28 was really good and I played that a lot, so I will probably skip the event and keep waiting until 3.29.

Farmers who have played both 1 & 2: Are there any systems you'd backport to 1 from 2?
I'm personally sticking to 1 until 2 is actually, y'know, developed. Even for a free game I'm not beta-testing for GGG.

I haven't played PoE 1 in ages, but I was never a fan of the piano flask system. I prefer the second game's implementation.

The gem system is better, although the supports are completely unbalanced currently (no choice or variety, either BIS or useless (vast majority)). But if you just threw it into POE1 it would be too OP, allowing like 10 6-7 links. But as a system, I like it better than having your link setup limited by gear.

Otherwise everything is either comparable or worse than POE1.

Still, biggest issue is just the feel of all the skills. Everything seems claggy, slow and/or awkward.

Piano flasking isn't really a thing anymore, no? Outside of day 1-2 for SSF players until they drop enough Instilling Orbs to craft "Used when charges reach full" on their flasks. Trade players can just buy them asap lol. I guess that's still a problem until you get Instilling Orbs, but it's much better than before we got them. Personally during early/mid maps I just run Life flask, and then fill up on quicksilver flasks until it starts to become a problem :^) Or you just run a flask macro.

Monkey with stick is the most brain dead build ever in any ARPG. I've never gotten this much currency. I just casually dropped 12 divines on an amulet. Bosses melt to Monkey with Stick. I only die to bullshit boss mechanics like The King of Mist teleporting me to a maze of death.

I'm loving it. Very casual play and great for bossing. There are other builds that map faster but monkey might be king for bossing. One issue I've found is that it doesn't work well with a culling strike rarity bot as it one shots pretty much everything so the bot can't get the kill.
