Probably way more work that it's worth
Money-wise, I'm sure you're right.

But the smug self-satisfaction of eating things I grew myself made the cherry tomatoes this year super duper worth it.

Then a frost came night before last and ended my tomatoes heart reacts only uguise. :'(

I was thinking a whole chicken so I could crockpot it over night, get a mixture of the meat shredded, then take the grease from cooking and use that with some taco seasoning.
Get a duck, the grease is sooo tasty---

Many entire week meal plans can be based on "buy a chicken." Just roast with no other prep. Then chicken with rice, chicken tacos, chicken enchiladas, chicken salad, chicken sandwiches, chicken whatever, maybe even tendies, and every two or three weeks, a giant batch of chicken soup. Or chicken and dumplings. Bonus points for using chicken fat in the dumplings themselves.
who eats that much chicken?

Also in Pasta news, they had super fresh eggs on the farmers market today and i made me some Carbonara. super fast, super tasty.
