I probably won't be getting this game, but I'm getting my entertainment value worth from the seething around the existence of this game.

As far as I can tell, yes. The most delusional ones are those who are convinced it is somehow the unholy triad of being AI generated, derivative (read: fun) gameplay and copyright stealing.

I think it also belies an underlying insecurity of their own worth. If a group of autistic JP devs can churn out this sort of game, and blow their own indie pixelshit out of the water, what hope have they? Daily reminder that none of the devs aside from the lead ever handled Unreal before, and one of them was literally lifted from a 7/11 solely because the founder thought he was a good fit.

Not to mention Palworld looks better than the bug-filled and seemingly "woke"-infected* Scarlet and Violet.

*(like no real difference between the male and female trainers for example)

The game being fun is the artistic merit, it's just these hacks have been trapped in an echo chamber for a decade and have come to really believe their shit doesn't stink. All that crap drilled into them about how "games don't have to be fun" and "gamers don't have to be your audience".

People seem to forget that the "high art" from past like Shakespeare and film noir was the mass entertainment of it's day.

This somehow ticked a third of its life by the time it woke up, so the next plan of action was getting it stuck in the tutorial area archway and putting another campfire there. It works because that doesn't make him hostile for some reason.

Got it gifted, so I finally get to play it. I can definitely see why people are having fun with this and I genuinely think Legends Arceus would of become something more like this if it was given more time to actually cook instead of being stuck to GF's stupid fucking production schedules.

I get why the retard section of the Pokefags are seething so fucking hard now. This early access game outta nowhere make THE "creature capturing video game" company of the world look like fucking amateur dumbasses with more money than sense. I genuinely can't wait to see how much better this game gets over time, its almost every God damn thing I want and expect a Pokémon game to be these days. Stop being a bunch of stupid niggers, Gamefreak, because you have actual potential competition now.

I pretty much stopped caring about whether or not creative works are "art" or not, as that can be overthought. To me if it looks good or has a "deep meaning" -- and in any case is skillfully done, it can be the same as "fine art" of the past. Even if the work in question just so happens to be some comic or vidya that's commercially released.

The pals have some random traits, some of which are really neat (ie. +20% DMG) and you can also upgrade them with both new attacks by feeding them ability fruits and by using the statue thingy (giving them another few % of extra stats). So i think thats already kinda there.
For example, i got the Electro-Horse with the 20% DMG trait and added another 20% worth of upgrades and a decent attack and now have a rideable electric chair called Zappo.

Uh, after playing all the pokemon games up to gen 6 and messing around competitive pokemon for a few years, I can definitively say its the other way around. I throw away pokemon like used rags in the games but there isn't really a Pal I've needed to stop using.

In Palworld, every straight upgrade, whether its to combat stats or non-combat stats, are always accompanied by a huge increase in maintenance due to how much food they eat or how limited their use are due to sheer size. Base stat differences are also something like up to ~20% between something early game and lategame, meanwhile fulling enhancing with statues and condensers more than doubles a Pal's stats.
