Disaster Palm Sunday bombings in Egypt - 37+ killed, 100+ injured in attacks on Cairo and Alexandria Copts.

How the fuck is it impossible to just completely erase a radical religious group in 2017? How?

Because our only strategy for dealing with it, COIN theroy (aka hearts and minds), is complete and utter bollocks and western military planners stick with it despite failing repeatedly and miserably in Vietnam, Afghanistan (twice!), Iraq, etc etc, because they can't admit that an insurgency is not a thing that can be fixed in 2-3 years, and that while blowing up terrorists and militas stops them in the immediate sense, it doesn't stop the next guy from picking up a gun or brick of c4 and picking up where the guy whose now a blood smear left off.

The west's military is not built to occupy nations. They're built to fight other western nations in hypothetical wars, or to blow up tiny nations that displease us and then leave.

Islamic fundamentalism is a snake devouring its own tail. The snake can't release the tail because of the ratchet teeth that are designed to stop prey from escaping, so all it can do is keep swallowing until it chokes itself and dies. Islamic fundamentalism is likewise a painful suicide. People become more and more devout because they are both terrified to speak out and because in a society where even taking a dump is an offence against God, the misery of others is the only thing that lessens their own misery. There is no stability and everyone is watching each other in the hopes that there will be something to denounce them for before they are denounced themselves. The bodies get stacked higher and higher until the only person left alive is the Lord High Executioner, who suddenly realises that he's been singing about his list, and then has to decide whether or not to execute himself. Which he won't. Because he's a complete psychopath who was always only in on it so he could murder people legally.

Kiwifarms: how many more people have to die until people get the fucking message
Twitter: unicorns, yay

I'm beginning to wonder who's more autistic

I heard more outrage over that stupid Gods of Egypt movie than I did over this atrocity. Hopefully it sees more discussion and coverage as we go into the week because this shit is only going to get worse as Easter approaches.

P
me and my brothas from the local mosque got together today and prayd for the victims of this terrible tradgdy
The sentiment is wonderful, but ultimately useless if it's just yourself and like minded company. Some form of mentorship towards younger Muslims would go a long way, however.

What bin Laden and others have done has been to make things very difficult for the West very cheaply. Think about the expenses for 9/11's execution: 19 airline tickets, some box cutters and a little flight training for 4 of them (this varies, but a very high ball estimate would still be well under $100k for all). Now think about how much the US has spent in response...on the order of trillions--and that disregards what the rest of the West has chipped in on their own.

Part of the reason the Marshall Plan was such a smart, cost effective move to take with Europe after World War II was that it incentivised peace. Europeans traumatized by years of war would not be so keen to fight and destroy what they have if they are given a fresh start to work with. Previously, Germans had been utterly devastated by the effects of World War I (and the exceptionally harsh conditions of the Treaty of Versailles) that the crippling effects of both motivated them to take revenge against the victors (Britain too but especially France). The Marshall Plan was a formidable guard against further conflict.

The biggest problem with Islamic terrorists is their reliance on so little. Unlike Germany, the Islamic terrorists do not rely on large factory complexes that can be bombed, use aircraft that can be shot down or ships that can be found and sunk. They pull their materials, which are usually quite mundane and easy to acquire, together in unremarkable buildings and then initiate chaos. Such easily concealable methods are rather difficult to counteract.

There's been huge coverage of this on our national news, because we got the Pope here and everything cristianity related is important; I can't hide I fear an attack in Rome for Easter.
In Egypt though terrorism gets in much easier because of the messy political situation, and it's a similar problem in Libia. West helped "took down" dictators and didn't care what to do next

Avis needs to shut down in Italy this week. Just anything to stop some kebab from plowing through the crowd in St. Peter's Square.

Give the Pope an AK too. Get some of that Holy Retribution going!

Which is why there will never be peace in the Middle East as long as violent, fundamentalist Islamists are around; even if they manage to completely purge the land of non-Muslims (which they're trying very hard to do), they'll immediately turn their focus to all Muslims who don't fit their strict criteria.
That's why NATO shouldn't overthrow the Syrian gov, because they're secular.

If anything, Iraq taught us that any old dumbfuck could fill the vacuum. Learn from it America.

However I do think that Assad needs to be taken down a peg or two, and obliterating an airbase should work wonders. Putin needs to fuck off with his 'MUH RETALIATION' he doesn't really give a shit.

As for the Daesh problem in Syria, I agree with Homeland's solution.

What I'm getting at are that Egyptian ISIS members are exceptional individuals who don't even realize that they're the foreign invaders; they follow Wahhabism/Salafism, a cancerous ideology that was invented a couple hundred years ago in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, the Copts have had their roots in Egypt for nearly 2,000 years, long before Islam was even born.

Yeah, the ISIS clowns are parroting the same thing about Spain, that apparently according to them Spain was a "muslim" country and that the Spanish "stole" it from the muslims so they're trying to get their "Al-Andalus" back.

And, as depressing to think of this is, I'm pretty sure some leftard progressive spanish kid who lives in Barcelona might think that ISIS is right and they should, dunno, replace the churches with mosques to please their brown overlords.
