What is with the teams outright fetish for all these verticality characters as of late. Lifeweaver and Venture both do this and suck ass and this character is just a weird vertical Ana who will attempt to creep her. Her kit is horrible because it shows they are just trying to fuck over Ana players by giving her escape and a speed boost. Moira honestly skirts playability only because how easy she is and skilled players with Mercy are very challenging to kill. Support is a wreck atm.

Looks very basic. Gun heal and do damage. Auto beams heals and do damage. Orbital laser dose, Guess what? heal and do damage. looks very boring.

How much you'd want to bet she's D'Va's sister or girlfriend?

It feels like every OW2 character feels uninspired. I remember I used to be existed for Ana, Doomfist, Sombra, Orisa. Now, all of them just blend together and break something else.

Is she vertical, though? She has a double jump and her one ability can make her float, but she's not wall-riding like Lucio or flying like Pharah.

I tooled around with her today. She feels good to play--a hitscan healer with some minor movement buffs. Only issue is how weak her homing orbs feel, and the fact that her ultimate is essentially a worse version of Zenyatta's. She's not replacing everybody, but if you want to play Tracer as a healer, she's your gal.*

*Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if her kit was cribbed from a scrapped PvE Tracer build.

The game's business model is selling skins. Why they would ever make an ugly or black character is beyond me.

It's essentially a loss leader for all kinds of free articles on various gaming website about how "stunning and brave" Blizzard is and how amazing Overwatch 2 is - so people meander into the game and hopefully buy skins for characters they actually like.

In retrospective, ultimates and healers is what killed Overwatch.

Healers; yea imagine playing as someone who has no impact on the game whatsoever. No wonder nobody wants to play healer, you are basically regen/buff dispenser and nothing else. Doesn't feel fun to heal or revive someone; just spam the same ability over and over again.

Ultimates just ruined the flow of the game. They're way too significant and ruin the flow of the game. Not to mention the dominating team gets to snowball a lot more ults. Some ults fit well, like Roadhog, Winston, but some just ruin the balance of a fight entirely.

Being a good healer means you also know not just when to heal, but also when to throw out damage. A good healer can often mean the difference between winning and losing close fights.

As for ultimates, in my experience, the higher up the ladder you go, the less impactful ultimates become. I can't remember the last time more than one person on my team died from a D.Va ult. It just doesn't happen once you leave bronze.

basically it's still as fucked and they're still as clueless. I kinda tuned out after "no one wanted to play tank, everybody liked to play dps, but this is badwrong because we think 3 roles are best and since people were mean about no one wanting to play tank trying to follow our crappy design we forced you via role queue" to the point whatever they tried it didn't fix shit. geee, I wonder why...

rest is a lot of stuff that sounds nice on paper because everybody knows they made a huge deal and spend lot of time moving to 5v5, you can't just open another slot again and be done with it, so every "experiment" is inevitably flawed and it still won't fix the issues OW always had. but talking about 6x6 and a lot of "maybes" gets the game into headlines again for cheap and people talking about it, so...

I was a Mercy main before the rework. You could very easily outduel most flankers with your pistol if you headshot every shot. The most fun I ever had in Overwatch was right after her rework and Battle Mercy wasn't just a meme. You could fly around corners using her shift since you maintained momentum. Her ult doubled her pistol damage and rate of fire. Seeing one Mercy fly around getting 6 man wipes was commonplace.
That segues into why I couldn't play the game anymore after the Mercy change. After they nerfed her fun things into the ground like killing momentum on your glide and removing bonuses to your pistol at all during Valkyrie, she just sucked. Her res is now hot garbage leaving you insanely vulnerable while they just kept upping the CD on it. Her heal keeps getting nerfed while they introduce healers that just heal better, and her damage buff also keeps getting nerfed because of the insane power creep. She can't do damage because she was never designed to, they introduce healers that can do both, and they nerf all the unique elements about her because the devs cannot balance for shit.
Mercy is not the only victim of this. Dear god, look at Roadhog. The fuck even is he nowadays? He's a bigger version of Junkrat? Why does he have a trap? People complained to no end about his hook, well, without his hook he has nothing. His entire thing was picking off vulnerable, out-of-position characters, and rather than get better positioning, people cried.

Aside from that, the higher up on the ladder, ults are mostly just about negating each other. Each person having a "push button, awesome happens" usually results in skilled players just trying to minimize it as much as possible to allow real skill to win through.

TF2's artstyle is well thought of, clear and concise. It speaks for itself. Overwatch's on other hand is sloppy and doesn't differentiate the teams at all, like they were an afterthought. If you turn off your HUD you wouldn't know who to shoot at. You need a red glow, red hp bar and a red name above a person to know if they're an enemy.

But WHY would you turn off UI elements in a hero shooters? I'll watch the video when I have free time to see if my opinion changes. But so far, the red aura IS to help distinguish between friend and foe, especially with a hero shooter having different archetypes. There's a lot to complain about with OW2, that's not one of them.

TF2 does in fact do it drastically better - the silhouettes distinguish the classes extremely well and the red/blue theming differentiates the teams absurdly well and it's a design concept that is even built into the maps. It's the theming and design that not only makes it easy to read a combat situation really fast - it's also the entire game space where the Spy class functions. Overwatch throws most of that in the garbage in favor of Player skins and "realistic" map design - which would have been really important things to steal from TF2.

That said - I really like that Overwatch put the effort in for two different sets of voicelines. There's the nice/cool ones all in English for teammates and then extremely angry screaming in a character's native language for enemies.
