You've seen them. TV commercials and the like that come out of nowhere with some blaring political message and preachy as fuck attitude that make you feel like your looking at an PSA, until you see the brand logo at the end.

Comments are disabled for this video. :story:

Share simular ads that focus on selling politics rather than merchandise so that we may mock them and be disgusted at their existence.

The problem with Political Activism is that it can never end.

These people turn their righteous (in their minds, sometimes they are right, sometimes not) causes into a career, and even if they get everything they want, it can't end. The work can't be done because then the money will stop rolling in, the fame and notoriety will end, and we can't have that?

Look at Feminism. Right to vote? Makes sense. Equality in the work place? Makes sense. Equal rights to their husbands/male partners? Makes sense.

Well, they got all that. Now, they have to focus on things like a horrible misinformed wage gap, demanding equal representation in areas women generally don't have as much interest in, and sperging out over even the tiniest slight (or what is interpreted as a slight).

Now combine that with businesses that want these people to not hang them upside down by their shoelaces, and you get pandering and ass kissing to keep them quiet. That's how you end up with cringey political ads we see more and more frequently.

Who could fucking forget the reigning champion of the OVERTLY POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENT! The bravest! The boldest! Certainly the moldiest! I give you:

Remember the ad that helped kill one of the oldest video game franchises around?

920x920.jpg

Of course the lacking quality of the game helped cement that fall, but New Colossus sold only half of what the New Order did, and New order was generally well liked, so what killed the hype? Probably an ad campaign that focused more on the current zeitgeist rather than actual improvements to its predecessor, and reveal at launch that the game was significantly shorter than the New Order.

Of course the media tried to tell you that only nazis would find terms like "Make America nazi free again", "Join the Resistance", "Punch a nazi", "White America just does what the Fuhrer tells them to" and "I'll kill every white nazi fuck" controversial in 2017. Of course simultaneously they also called the game a "rallying cry" against "modern white fascism".
But it seems the consumers weren't comfortable with the rethoric, and did not buy into the message the ads were trying to sell.

Was go ing to post the Steven Universe Dove ads as Body Positivity + Post-season 2 Steven seemed like a recipe for disaster, but after watching them, they are honestly not that bad. Kinda wish the show had more of this tone and especially this art style.

Isn’t that the same campaign that gave us that stupid NB/intersex ad with Stevonnie?

A big chunk of the actually-worked-on-Riddick-and-Darkness guys from Starbreeze left midway to do their own thing when they weren't being shifted to management/supervising positions (or going back to EA's dummy Starbreeze). A Way Out is basically a bunch of the Riddick team coming together to do "Showtime drama Butcher Bay", it's not BAD, but something was clearly going on behind the scenes with Wolfenstein to drive senior devs away, especially with something soulful like TNO under their belts. My theory is that TNC's original story is mostly there BEFORE the chop, and everything after was the result of being current year'd, as well as all the shit with BJ's parents, which was probably the easiest to insert due to how it's all self-contained vignettes about your (the person playing) horrible racist dad, and the single autistic confrontation that follows. While I'm all for pointing at the corpse Bethesda left us, at least take comfort that this thankfully wasn't vintage Starbreeze fully-embracing their Swedish roots in order to make an audience that doesn't play shooters care about Wolfenstein

That mom-and-dad thing especially stood-out as something added hastily to start conversations, because even though we're now being shown just how cool it is that BJ is Jewish, the last game showcased BJ impregnating his Polish Catholic wife, something up there with impregnating an Asian wife - a type of spite ensuring you and your future family cease being Jewish at that point if you're the sole child. At the same time, it feels they were still aware of the religious politics involved, because the Blazkowicz last name originally implied that his dad is some Polish mutt that's possibly Jew-ish genetically, with some ultra-Texan mom/family somewhere in the mix, but now we have the convoluted revelation that BJ's dad is so antisemetic, he took a Jewish last name for himself for an easy life, so BJ is now allowed to be portrayed as Jewish without getting concerned emails from PR

The Youngblood team was probably raring to go with "Kat Dennings and Lena Dunham pastiches kill Nazi's" until they got their memo, so they settled on "autistic girls who punch 'vaporwave' into Youtube now punch into Nazi's"

There's also the problem of BJ's memories of his life in America in TNO and Old Blood not meshing with what was shown in TNC. In TNO he yearns for the America he remembers from his youth, but TNC reveals his youth was a nightmare, with his father abusing both BJ and his mother. Why would such a man be dreaming about returning home and the smell of barbeque?

Was going to make a thread, but it apparently exists already.

I'm mostly confused. Is the second dude supposed to be trans? If not, do gay men wear lipstick and I just never noticed? If so, are the troons going to be pissed he has a full beard? 🤔
