The funniest part of this is that the event happened at 5pm and was broadcast at 7pm. They edited down some speeches but kept in the shout of Nigger. They had hours to deal with it and it still got through
 
Got to watch one of the early test screenings of I Swear before it released to the wider public, movie itself is absolutely phenomenal. Brilliant highlight of Tourette's as a condition, while keeping in good humour to it.

Knowing that the existence of that film has led to Michael B Jordan being called a nigger on live television warms my heart

I have only seen a few of these and they all sucked but Hamnet is a special kind of bad. Indie cinema at its absolute worst but I predict Jessie Buckley will win best actress even though she was awful.
 
Make him the host next year and I can guarantee record viewing numbers. Edit: Can we have a guy(or gal) with tourettes at every event that would also have a sign language person? For visibility and inclusion
 
Come to think of it, this is actually some insane involuntary PR for their movie.

As funny as it is, Tourettes is one of those conditions that is grossly misunderstood. John Davidson grew up in a time where the condition utterly baffled researchers (it still isn't as widely understood as many other neurological conditions are) and a culture where these things simply weren't understood. The movie is actually really good showing this.

Man with a rare and life impacting condition shouted the worst possible thing to say on TV... Redditors most affected.

Looked at the Twitter reaction and all the people saying 'I'm so sorry they had to go though that" make blacks sound like the weakest babies imaginable. They're fuck adults just hearing a word isn't literally kryptonite that's going to send them to tears. It genuinely makes black sound weaker then any racist could.
 
Honestly kind of a perfect stand-up bit and I think if they had a black host instead of Alan Cummings, it could've been played off in a way that allowed the black community to gauge a response but since the two black guys stood there stone faced it was read as them taking offense to it, and maybe they did. If it was a black comedian they would have immediately had a "only white guy with a real N word pass" joke. But it was two stuffy dudes who really adopted a white washed public persona so it was gasp - how dare this word be said at this prestigious event. Samuel L Jackson would have laughed. Chris Rock would have laughed. I think even Kevin Hart might hold back a laugh.

But not these guys high on their own farts. I hated Sinners. Not because it was about black people but because it was kind of a shitty movie but since its about black people he thinks hes the next black Spielberg. Dude will be lucky to be a Cuba Gooding in a decade.

That would have been such a humanizing and genuinely funny response. Would have cut the tension and maybe show people that there's no harm in the condition and maybe we don't have to all be wet blankets about race if there's genuinely no hate there.
But we're not allowed to make light of these things, if a joke was made out of it, there would be another camp of wet blankets that you only find online being super offended on John's behalf. Hence the incredibly clean pussy way they went about the outbursts in the first place.

The wildest thing to me is that there are people plain dumb enough to encourage the idea of segregation because nothing is more sacred than the sensibilities of black people apparently. People are saying that he should not have even been in attendance because black people were in the room.

John has lived his entire life being harshly judged and outright punished for his condition, do these people think he would have allowed that to happen? He yelled "fuck the queen" as he was receiving an MBE. This man has immense balls of steel to do what he does and I have to respect him for that. He had every right to be in attendance and should not apologise.

In the 80s people saw him as a freak because they didn't understand, now people are offended and see him as a racist because they think they understand more than him. We live in a culture that's just as judgemental, perhaps in some ways more so, just flipped the other way.

Also glad to see Chalamet got cucked, just saying... He's what Bossmanjack would look like if he bonesmashed 24/7
