I finally found some possum images I took back in 2017.

I inched a bit closer to get a clearer shot and it began to play dead.

Using this opportunity, I quickly went back inside my house, got bread, and left it next to the possum as it was playing dead.

The possum did take the bread after this close encounter and haven't seen it around since. Probably ended up as road kill.

Just something I thought I'd share.

i am bringing this thread back not only to make it clear the poster above me is a bitch nigga that is missed by no one but also that possums are good, true, and honest critters. they can't really defend themselves, they don't get rabies, they eat ticks, and as a whole suffer immensely without anyone knowing. without powerlevelling i'll say i have family that does animal rehabilitation/rescue volunteer work that i'm getting more involved with and look possums just kinda hang out and should get more love.

I've had two pet rescue opossums, both were easily litter trained and very smart. They are easily the most underappreciated animal in North America in my humble opinion. In second place is the black rat snake.

Bigfoot quality photo of last night's visitor, my dad sometimes puts veggie scraps in a big seashell for opossums to snack on. This guy also went right up to the door to check for cat food. Unfortunatly he might also be the reason our tomato plant keeps having the lowest-hanging fruit mysteriously dissappear, so we probably taught him that our house has all the good food
